Thinking back over nearly 2 decades, I remember when this company celebrated victories with their employees. I remember when this was a fun place to work. Everyone in the community wanted to work here and everyone who worked here held their chin up because they knew they worked at the best place in their local area. Christmas cards, hams, turkeys, t-shirst, monthly celebrations for being safe, sincere pats on the back, laughing and cutting up without the threat of being suspect of "not performing due to behavior". Everyone made their production. Then it all changed. Target and hq stress change is needed to move forward. Well in this case it was the knife in target's back. Art moved in and took jobs. Target started hiring temps instead of hiring full time employees. Ryder took the logistics positions. tno happened and removed the dispatchers. target outsourced the computer techs positions to an outside company. All to save money. My BIG question is if target could do all of the things for their employees 15 years ago and turn a huge profit, why is it after they laid off all of these people they can't afford to send me a card on Christmas? No hams, no celebrations, no safety recognition, no perfect attendance luncheons, NOTHING. WHY? You cut back on employees to save money, yet you have none to spend.
This is because PEOPLE make this company and until our board realizes this, we will not move forward. People, what a simple concept. Treat People fair. I'm sure if our leadership team (across the pyramid) would not leave their morals at the front door when they enter work this place would be a better, more profitable place to work. I'm sure their mothers didnt raise them to be like this or would tell them they are doing the right things. It's about People and how you treat them. Bring that back and stand out AGAIN amoungst the competitors. Thats how stood out before.
Change is NOT always good. Ask the people who have to CHANGE their lives due to layoffs.
