I heard all the layoffs are going to happen tomorrow - 2k to 3k people, not just Canada support. In core merch they are also going to eliminate the MP Director role. MP issues will flow thru Sr. Buyers.

unless they start gutting TSS and merch and PD&D -- PD&D probably being the most bloated -- there won't be an impact.
i always see TSS folk on here and they're the ones that seem to be getting laid off, there's a lot of fat in other groups with 1 manager for 1 or 2 people, with no "work" of their own. it's all about micromanaging and making sure you're "collaborating" and everything get's approved by PG19,21 which in the end all become their ideas.
cut the fat and cut it fast. whomever is in the great hall just cut them.
7 direct reports is what was considered organizationally optimal. However, terrible to punish people that can get the work done with less. There are a lot of teams with too much management, but at target we do have a lot of working managers so while they might be managing a small team they're also responsible for work they do independently.
They've been reducing KMG roles for almost 2 yrs, so that's seems reasonable. Of course, it totally depends by area too.

I heard that they're going to pay close attention to KMG roles - they want at least 7 direct reports for each KMG. Some consultant study. Over the years some support teams have become bloated.
What else do we know here? Who's going to be affected.
i heard that too, but not about the mp directors. i'm in favor of eliminating the mp director role, but i wonder whether they'll actually shed the people in that talent pipeline or reassign them? aren't they supposed to be the next divisionals?
