There are about 14,000 people at target's MN headquarters, so 2,000 is a lot if they're all at headquarters, but maybe not too many if it includes other locations too. Target said there are 600 positions related to Canada they're reviewing.

With Bob gone I would almost expect to see more of the 'do it on the cheap' methodology which means farming out more work to less efficient vendor provided support services. This could possibly mean more contractor conversions like they did last year.
So which Non-Canada team/people will be affected? How did they decide?
Meeting notices go out at 7am for 9am. All Canada Support team members have been asked to come in tomorrow (they've been off for 4 weeks). Non Canada team members, If you get a 9am meeting, nice knowing ya. I'm guessing everyone else will get a 9:15/9:30 type meeting.
Pre book your bar seat. Target doesnt have a good track record of laying off areas that arent working hard vs those that are. They cut with a hatchett not a scalpal.
Me too. McKenzies has a nice tap selection. I'll see anybody there!
Let's hope they do it right away in the morning. If I'm laid off I'll need a good seat at the bar.
Anonymous66475 - I agree, it does not mean that they will be doing layoffs, it may be FYI meetings, pay cuts, etc.
What time do we think they will start putting meeting on calendars?
Good luck to everyone. I think they are going to get rid of people they no longer want on payroll also.
Last year a lot of the rooms were booked for fyi type meetings to inform the unaffected. I fully expect an announcement of Paycuts as well as layoffs.
So, do we agree that it'll be 3,000 tomorrow?
Why Marketing? We do not have enough staff?
I overheard that Marketing and IT will be heavily affected this time. Now, is that Feb 2015 or March 2015, we will have to wait and see. Good luck to all tomorrow. I am very anxious I almost vomited this morning.
What areas will be hit? We know Canada but where else, and how are they deciding who stays and who goes?
3,000 is the number heard multiple times over the last week and with the amount of rooms booked in all buildings it is going to be a large number. I doubt it is just Canada during this round just based off the amount of rooms that are blocked for tomorrow.
Well, my team is pretty small and we are ALL super busy all the time, working on things that directly affect the stores. I have a feeling we're ok but there are some Canada people - those people were told weeks ago to stop coming into work and to basically find jobs outside Target, which they've been doing. Just based on that it seems that the Canada folks will be gone and the rest of us will be ok, but you never know!
HR has the largest number of people who do nothing, just busy work, they generate their own work.
I wonder if that number includes a couple of DC's being closed down? Any insight?
I hate to see anybody lose their job, but a lot of people on my team, including me, don't really do a lot. Like maybe an hour or two of work some days. 2000 people isn't really a crazy number if HR got into the weeds.
I think your number is greatly exaggerated. 600 related to Canada is a given, but what about other folks? Maybe 500? Anyone?
