Not because of layoffs. I just couldn't stand my manager anymore. He was a nightmare, constantly micromanaging every hour I worked, even though I’m an exempt employee. I tried complaining, but nothing ever changed. It was exhausting dealing with him, and since no action was taken, I eventually had no choice but to leave. It’s been two weeks of freedom, and I’m feeling wonderful. I start my new job next month, so we’ll see if I have any regrets after that.

OP, you didn’t leave because of your manager, you left because you had a new job. Stop trying to act like you took some brave step.
Retiring after bonus, bought one of those digital countdown clocks in August. Cannot wait to leave this dumpster fire.
I'm right behind you OP. I have 3 months left. New job lined up, just waiting for my 401k match and mid Feb bonus. I've been preparing since January 2023.
They need to flatten the org across the bank. There are too many managers trying to justify their existence and adding no value. We're drowning in bureacracy and can't change. It just keeps getting worse.
Typically micromanagers have trust issues and are insecure in their own abilities. I've worked for one myself and it was the worst.
Why stay and make my manager successful with no reward.

There's literally nothing my manager could do to make me walk away from severance, but I have 25 years of service. Might as well start writing the checks, Shart.
