Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Charlotte #2 worst traffic in US

Not that we didn’t already know that Charlotte traffic is a nightmare. If only there was some way to elieviate the problem. Hmm.
Nah. We will just make them p-e in the dark and claim we are green.

Going from south Charlotte to uptown - takes me about 90 min at rush hour one way to go ~22 miles - so I just go a couple hours early and leave a couple hours late.... NOT.

They need to validate keeping the commercial real estate market artificially propped up. A fictional demand. My wife’s company went 200% remote 5 years ago and sold off all their commercial real estate. It gives them to hire the best talent regardless of geography.

Hubs are a complete waste of time/money and usually when Shart picks up he makes a stupid decision. If we're going to waste money on in-person work, you do it where it's cheapest and easiest to work, not where it's most expensive and hardest. These clowns have no idea what they are doing.

Also to those asking how this is related to layoffs, traffic is bad in Charlotte. The transportation infrastructure hasn’t kept up with the number of folks moving to the area. The other areas that made the list have also experienced an influx of people moving into them and that has congested the roads. I can also speak for Jacksonville as work required travel there often.

If having to decide on a longer commute on a 3 lane interstate system that gridlocks quickly, as it’s been said in this thread, I would opt for a layoff. I won’t touch the construction that also causes traffic issues (esp “right lane closed in 1000 feet” for 10 feet).

@1vga+1vlZnf2r, although congested, those cities have more lanes.

For the people asking about what this has to do with layoffs…

When I was given the option of moving(relocating) , commuting or being displaced, I drove to Charlotte twice to gauge the traffic and the commute time. It was I nightmare. If Wells had offered me a raise to commute or move, I would have still taken severance to avoid the drive and traffic.

I love how WF says they are a green company but makes everyone commute in. Companies should get tax breaks for WFH not for having everyone commute into expensive, useless, commercial real estate buildings.

How are the top 3 ranked ahead of any of those in 4-10?

The traffic isn’t that bad. 4-10 appear accurate.
