Thread regarding F5 Networks Inc. layoffs

Dear François, ELT, we deserve better.

Dear François, ELT,

Delaying or avoiding the sharing of bad news, like a layoff, is poor leadership. Having to learn about it from external sources first was disappointing. Don't do this again. Don't announce business success one day, and then lay off 100s the day after without telling us why.

We deserve better.

Sincerely,
F5

Just hiding their failures and trying to see if by not talking about it people will happily forget about it.

“ performance review for leadership”

Did they fill quarterly goals in Workday? Did they get MBO cut? If I am not mistaken they get golden parachutes worth millions, regardless of the company performance. In nature they would be called parasites.

is there anyone who does performance review for leadership? I mean there's definitely something to be changed, not just releasing another portion of engineering out, which is 100% coming soon.

McAdam has been a board member all this time after stepping down as CEO. So he tacitly approves of the current direction of the company. Unfortunately I think the only remedy is to have a few bad quarters and get acquired in a leveraged buyout for pennies on the dollar. Which is to say this company is beyond repair.

Here's the answer: remove the current Exec Team & FLD. Go and rehire the Exec Team that was here before FLD took over. Get McAdam (at whatever cost), have him rehire his old Exec Team (at whatever the cost), have those Execs rehire every SVP that was in place before FLD (at whatever the cost). We rehire that team no matter if they left for a promotion at another company, they retired or were laid off. It'll be expensive but that will begin to right the ship. Then the SVPs go out and rebuild their old organizations to the principles and standards we had before. We hire people for their skills, not for what they look like. It'll be a tough and expensive road but this is what is needed....

This company is like an airplane caught in a tailspin with no one at the wheel. Now that stock analysts are catching on to the fact that layoffs coincidentally happen annually around the end of fiscal year, leadership will now be using the MBO funding pool as the CEO's slush fund, to dress up the numbers as he sees fit. Never imagined I would be working at a company with such incompetent leadership, this is next level. The guy is out of his freaking mind!

Profit FLD can have lavish xmas parties, but the cogs must pay for clothing. Go figure,

"F5 has become a Yes boss. Ok Madam."

Now they introduce strict monitoring of the "little cogs". Every quarter a "low level cog" will need to produce a detailed report of activities. Expect layoffs every quarter. Layoffs affect only cogs. Useless managers and clueless directors can enjoy the ride.

Oh..wait..where the *** is leadership at F5…Directors are just confined to co-ordinate creation of Features and Epics with out having a clue about them..Solution owners are mere Scrum Masters who don’t know anything except creating User stories..People managers have got nothing to say or do and Technical program managers have zero technical skills about any technology..God bless F5

Quarterly? Is this confirmed? F5 used to be such a good company. This really makes me sad. There are departments that are already too lean to function correctly as it is.

“They fire you yearly to buy back stock.”

They changed yearly firing to quarterly. They copied Amazon. Bottom 10% must go.
Watch your back as backstabbing will intensify.

There is no executive at F5 that respects any of you. They fire you yearly to buy back stock. The board has rewarded them for doing this. Here is what you do. Learn all about every market F5 excels in. Then, make a list of every F5 competitor. And apply over and over next year until hired. Every day you work hard at your next company you will feel much better than you do now. I hope this helps.

FLD won't make eye contact with you in the elevator at F5 Tower. He will keep his nose in his phone. John McAdam used to always say hello and chat to everyone he passed by.
