If you don’t sign the CNRL offers and have more than 10 years with chevron they are required to pay 8 weeks of statutory pay (severance)

I think the base will actually be lower. They'll give you bunch of options that will most likely expire worthless to match your total compensation.

No pay protection in the offer letter = keep telling yourself it’s worth it because you get to keep your same base but don’t be surprised when you get a rough wake up call

There’s no way CNRL needs all the Chevron employees and they are just trying to avoid paying severance. They will manage the acquired assets how they want and don’t kid yourself on them needing your expertise.

Ex pats, because they don’t have the same severance exposure and they can run them off next year for less risk

Seriously, Chevron people are so unappreciative. This is insane
No layoffs and you still get to keep a paycheque. Leave if you do not like it but you have an option to make between 250K and 500K in total compensation while have of the country live just above poverty. And the irony is most of you is mediocre at best and was lucky enough to have a job let alone a well paid. Take the job with CNRL and try to learn one thing or two from your new colleagues. Respect them as they obviously did a better job than you to keep their company profitable while you pushed your business over the cliff.

Will CNRL take SCM, HR and Legal?

Looks like we've been f-ed over. No pay/job protection period has been negotiated into the deal. Nothing stopping CNRL from cutting down salaries a month or two from now

What about CBU people supporting a central function, not CBU directly?

@2bpc JP heading back to the US of A. MS taking the helm of what’s left.

Some of the ones selected to remain will probably get packaged out at some point too, they may or may not have wanted to go to CNRL like the rest of the herd but guess no one gets a choice. Feels like chevron is hiding behind the commercial agreement and using that as excuse for treating their employees like meat.

All the employees including the support functions are going to CNRL apart from a select few that will stick around to idle down what remains. All employees will have received notifications by now.

CBU LT has completely dropped the ball on being clear on the process for contractors however. So disappointing, and communication is just continuing to get worse. I work in our field operations and have some serious concerns with morale and safety risk - the contract workforce execute a lot of the work, especially the high risk work, and are sitting in total limbo. We’re on the path of having a serious incident to wrap things up for Chevron here.

I had a lot of hope for this process going smoothly with CM at the helm, but I heard yesterday that JP has taken the reigns and he doesn’t GAF about any of us. The HR manager is just as bad, what a tool. Very disappointed but I guess not surprised.

Hope everyone hears what they want to hear tomorrow. Buckle in for a bumpy month long ride to the end, at least of this chapter.

Will CNRL take the functions?

Do you really think just because CNRL says they don’t have plans to reduce salaries NOW that they won’t be changing their mind and reducing it once you’re there and being compared to their existing employees? It sounds like the offers won’t have any guarantee of X years at this salary.

What do you mean no protection? They’ve already come out and said offers will be at same base salary and that they have no plans to change them. Are you implying they will reduce them? I’ve heard they won’t do that, but they will make you so miserable and never ever give you a raise again so you quit.

I’m guessing there will be cases where someone coming in as an individual contributor is going to make significantly more than their supervisor. How do they handle that? Won’t that be an indicator the “work environment” is not the same if you’re going to walk in to animosity because you make more?

No protection for CBU employees for their salaries going to CNRL, going to be a rough wake up call for some

What will happen with support functions and staff

I’m curious if CNRL was allowed to refuse to give offers to certain people based on pre determined criteria like salary level compared to CNRL. If that’s the case, then I could see some terminations happening tomorrow. No job at CBU and CNRL wouldn’t take you.

So there will be no layoffs

You either stay or get a job with CNRL…

correct?

My guess is half the people that go over to CNRL quit by this time next year.

No, you don’t find out Tuesday if you will be moving to CNRL. You find out if staying with Cbu or if your name is on the list of employees being made available to CNRL to make offers to. If you want to go over then great, if you don’t then hire a lawyer and get some advice specific to your own situation. Also, I wouldn’t recommend taking to this “free” lawyer they offered up at the townhall. That idea reeks of conflict of interest!

There will be 50 - 60 left to support Hebron and Hibernia and all the asset retirement stuff (Kitimat, downstream, Arctic, northern BC).
