Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

History of Layoffs

L3Harris has always had a history of laying off senior people, and replacing them with new grads, to save money, but it has never been this bad. L3Harris released their quarterly numbers, and according to the CEO, profits are up, contract awards are up, and revenue is up, so why the layoffs?

This round of layoff was strictly greed. The layoffs in April were substantial. And they obviously did the trick if their numbers are up. I did not appreciate being laid off over greed. Especially over the BS reason I was given. The company saw an easy way to make more money and so they laid people off. Good people. Good people across Aerojet Rocketdyne that did add value. I knew these people and I worked with these people and they weren’t slackers and they didn’t feel entitled to work there because of their years of service. Like me, they loved the company and they loved their job and they loved the impact they were having on the space programs. But L3 Harris is just about reducing you to a number. I do notice that a lot of people are being replaced by other L3 Harris folks that had little to NO experience in the A&D industry. When the people they bring in don’t clearly understand what you do and how it impacts our relationship with the government and impacts the company then you know we’re in trouble. I can’t describe my former position, but I do know it was a vital part of ensuring that this company tows the line with Government requirements.

20-30 years..? Then they walk you out. Who is loyal? I’m happy that I got laid off in April. Very rough couple of months - but survived. Just glad that I got a new job. Lot of folks struggling out there.

L3 Harris can't have much history, but L3 has a history of cleaning house once or twice a year. And I have never seen any evidence of age based layoffs, and I have been here since the Chrysler days. However, people who think they deserve a job just because they have been here for 20 or 30 years, and they no longer want to work for that priveledge, they need to go. I have also not seen very many signs of any DEI hiring or firing at our site. Yes we do the training, yes we have posters everywhere, but hiring and promoting seem to be skills related, or people who are stupid enough to raise their hand when a supervisory job opens up.
