Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The way hybrid will be rolled out will not be fair

The program itself is fair, the way that Chevron management will communicate it / roll it out / justify it will not be. They will gaslight everyone into thinking this is a data driven approach when they clearly have seen employee morale is in the toilet and ignore previous surveys where everyone was clamoring for full remote work. They have spent a year telling you hybrid works and now they'll make functions working across time zones to come in an extra day solely because upper management doesn't know how to manage people unless they have eyes on them.

Bumping this up for visibility. Found at @oqq+1vUSD47T.

I can do my entire job from home.

Yes, it could also be done from India. Assuming you can find someone with expertise in my technical area (difficult, not impossible) who would be willing to work US hours (unlikely) with excellent communication skills (good luck) and relationships on other Chevron teams to help get things done.

Sure, easy enough to send that to ENGINE.

The long term future of WFH is 4 days a week in office and then WFH as tracked benefit. 15-25 days a year that doesn't increase. That way it makes it easier for spineless middle managers and plus they can give their carve outs to those with 'special needs'

The more you say you can do your entire job from home you might as well “my job can easily move to India.” You people are clueless.

High ranked here for 15 years, never gotten less than 1s previously or 3-exceeds. I come to office bc I don’t have any reason not to I really don’t care whether we are in or out. But objectively, I have witnessed absolutely zero benefit to being in office. We under perform because we have bad leaders and lots of bad employees, in or out they don’t perform well. If people waste time at home they waste time in the office is meetings or convos. Bring everyone back so it will confirm our leaderships incompetence and maybe it will force a change.

Why would you want to cheat? If you are that clever you can't find yourself a better job? Yea, real clever.....

Every badge scan using the on-premise system has datetime stamp w tons of detail info including location etc. the campus also has security cameras that can tie that scan datetime to the person coming into the door... anyone can be clever but HR/Global Security etc. can always request additional details if they see any need

There are ways around the badging if you are clever.

I say get your a..to the office or get a WFH job, they are out there but don't pay as nicely. The ones that do pay well, are because they require you to be traveling the majority of the time.

If Chevron cuts you a paycheck then you do as they say. If you don’t want it or don’t agree with the company, then leave.

If you guys were all actually working the hours that you are supposed to it would be different. But do go on with your little charades and pretend like you don't know why you need to show up and do the job that you were hired to do and not F-off at home all day.

Why is where I get my work done such a big deal? Was I hired to sit in a specific spot or to deliver on specific responsibilities? I work with some fantastic WFH people, Chevron is apparently happy to lose them to other companies rather than keep the small pockets of actual talent we have.

People do support international BU’s too - working late at night/early in the morning. Why should I go into the office at 8 pm to sit on a Teams call all night by myself because some executive needs my badging data to look good?

You mostly likely didn't have any schedule in your offer letter in the U.S. You good if Chevron makes you work 11 pm to 11 am 7 days a week as a salaried employee?

People like hybrid and wfh - of course they care if it's being restricted or removed.

None of us had hybrid work schedule mentioned in our offer letters when we got hired with the company, so why does it matter sooo much that we have multiple threads discussing it?
