There's a lot of IT comments trickled through each post. Let's keep it in the family. I'll start by saying IT has been a sh1t show since ImagineIT. Our great leaders took everything bad about the old ITC model and created something even worse. Here we are now and anyone who actually wants to deliver something useful to the business is treated like they're crazy. Many opportunities that the business actually wants us to do are shutdown because they're not se-y enough as they don't have anything to do with AI and whatever other buzzword makes IT leaders froth.

Triple Crown and Digital Core are the projects that will never end and never stop su-king up $$$$$$$$$. They need to be terminated.
At least those of us in IT have it easier finding jobs elsewhere since we’re not oil and gas specific. The business folk will miss us when they have to wait for ENGINE to get on and work overnight and still not understand their problem.
Ya if anything, MN is demanding outcomes and stock price increases. That’s not with anything IT or digital so the customers aren’t even asking for it. Just keep the lights on and make sure my laptop works.

As if a non-IT leader like me even knows or cares what your budget is or what value your team is actually delivering to the enterprise. You completely missed the point, this wasn't about you and your team lol.
All I am saying is clueless IT leaders want those big headline flavor of the month concepts that they can show pony around beyond the value proposition. Today it's chatgpt, yesterday it was deep learning, machine learning and RPA. I can make up any business case, put it in a PowerPoint with the latest cutting edge buzzwords and IT leaders would eat it up.

OP, you have no idea what you’re talking about regarding the business shutting down your Sh1t because they only want AI. I’ve been around different iterations of that group, either in it or peripherally for almost 10 years, and that is a team that is quite frankly the cheapest in all of IT and arguably shouldn’t even be in IT. Even this new shiny Enterprise AI team has the lowest budget amongst every single IT group out there. They are less than a rounding error in the overall IT business plan. If the business is only looking for shiny AI sh-t, don’t you think that budget would be humongous?
IT cost is all wrapped up with digital core, triple crime, digital twin, and McKinsey and BCG consulting fees.
Maybe the platforms deprioritised your work or your ideas because 1) your PLM has no clue what the BU actually wants or needs - this is very possible, or 2) your pet project that you heard about from a BU friend should’ve been ki-led a long time ago because it adds no value, just like SAFe cr-p.
Too many non technical managers both in IT fundamentals and also oil and gas business knowledge. Its got to change, can't see that an India office will improve it though.
Anyone with two brain cells could see that SAFE was going to be a train wreck. But enough IT leaders needed it to build their empire that it gone shoved through anyway. Epic waste of everyone’s time and energy.

SAFE roles are a total joke and waste of time. We can hire 18 scrum masters but not one engineer. ImagineIT wrecked us and this is gonna wreck us more. Anyone know what the Agile Chapter does?
It’s been a sh1tshow since before imagine IT, imagine it just made it a bigger one. Agile is a joke. SAFE roles are a waste of space. The Chapter model is a massive failure. Digital Core is an expensive embarrassment. Most of the SEs and Architects I work with are technically illiterate. Our MSPs are garbage. Leaders worry more about managing up than understanding what their group does.
Alot of folks still don't know what's their role.. and they are enjoying it until now... they get away without doing almost nothing .. maybe they work about 20-30% of time.. I believe the only teams who are busy seems to be IT guys sitting at edge BUs.. maybe I am wrong. Obviously you cannot generalize .. I am sure there are folks working their @$$ off in core central IT as well but just giving my opinion
I have to agree that the 2020 ImagineIT reorg was terrible for ITC and CVX. It took 2-3 years for people to understand what their role was let alone figure out how to support BUs and provide value to improve the efficiency and lower the cost of producing Energy. Hopefully the ELT will not rely on consulting firms to reorg IT and will bring focus on IT supporting CVX’s BUs.
