Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I'm thankful for my job

It might not be popular to say, but I've worked at several other O&G companies, and Chevron is the best one among them by far. It's not perfect, but it's better than many. That's why I worry so much about being laid off and why I'm so thankful to still have this job.

I’m grateful. Great pay. Oil is uncertain, you just have to deal with it

It's a pretty popular opinion actually lol. If you read between the lines of people complaining this place has gone to be the birds, but they've been here 20+ years = translation it's GOOD!

Yes, this is how most people feel, and you have the occasional fake troll posts from CVX people who claim that they work elsewhere now and make a lot more. I tend to ignore that background noise.

This is how the majority feel. It just at the negative small people make all the noise.

Chevron is better than some, sure.

I left a few years back after another reorg left me with a sh-t position with little potential for growth.

At the new company, I have respect, autonomy, and make about 30% more. There are better jobs than Chevron.

It is good to see some positive post. Gratitude bring energy. Unless people have facts to share, share negative complaints not change anything and bring all readers mood down
Give Thanks

I’m in a similar position - for the longest time, I have felt incredibly fortunate to work where I do. I’ve often thought this is the best job I’m ever likely to have.

But things have changed since the “transformation” in 2020 and I find myself becoming increasingly disillusioned by bureaucracy (eg agile) and lack of vision. My team has become completely dysfunctional and that makes either outcome with layoffs feel bittersweet.
