Buying stock is a gamble, why do large corporations pander to the gamblers rather than the folks that actually earn $$ for the investors?

So is the OP saying that the institutional money that own's the vast majority of the large-caps are gamblers? Pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, index funds, endowments, large family offices?
Because they own the company.
