Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How long until this is us?

Funny enough, half the locations don’t have the desks to handle everyone being there 5 days per week, at least not all day. They’ll probably make us come in and fight over the desks and those who can’t get there by 8 am are working from lobby chairs.

I’m not disputing there’d be a seating crunch. I’m disputing that leadership would care. Heck, if anything a chaotic work environment that causes more people to quit could be a feature to them, not a bug.

The work situation before COVID was 0 days in office, so yes, let's go back.

Anyway, no building will be over populated for long. They'll simply layoff people until the remnants "fit"...and then keep laying people off until they can sell the building or the lease ends. HY and I&P will be the only hubs.

My neighborhood seating area has an employee/desk ratio of 160% (I’ve seen the planning spreadsheet and most seating areas are similar in my building). That works fine under the current hybrid model but would not work in a 5 day a week model.

@bwe is correct, at least for the hub city where I’m located, which has 3 primary campuses in the metro area.

While I wasn’t as fortunate prior to 2019, I do have several friends in WF technology who were voluntold 100% remote due to lack of capacity. Since then we’ve sold at least 1 large building, so I’m not sure where everyone will go if there wasn’t adequate seating 5 years ago with more real estate.

1-it’s already in discussion at WFA. 2- It was 5 days in office before Covid. 3-There is plenty of space unless you are in a location that sold buildings. Basically go back to the work environment before covid. I really hate the idea but it’s out there in discussion with leadership.

The big difference is that everyone wants to work for Amazon.

Everyone wants Amazon on their resume. Working there is a whole other topic. They use RTO like a we-pon just like WF.

This will increase traffic, increase pollution, reduce well being, and push more caregivers (mostly women) out of the workforce.

Do you think that’s something they’d actually consider before making that call? Knowing our c-suite they’d just put in the directive with the rationale of “they’ll figure it out” as far as seating.

We literally don't have the space for this unless they're expecting 40% of us to quit lol

I was there before 2019. While it was like that to an extent, it’s going to be so much worse now. A) Because even back then a lot people were working from home 1-2 days a week and B) Befause there were more desks back then, or at least for our LOB/location there were.

They will layoff employee between now and start of next year, to make sure everyone in office have a table and chair.

This is how it was before 2019. I worked from home, but had colleagues who went in and they had trouble finding desks to work at. They'd have to try and schedule it 2 weeks in advance.

I wonder if people are being punished when they can't find a desk and have to go back home. Considering it's Amazon, I would guess yes?
