Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Salary Decrease

I'm sure a lot of us are wondering (I heard its true) after 2 years at Accenture, our salaries will drastically decreased to match Acc level? If so, will it be mentioned in the offer.

Nobody knows what will happen in two years. The world changes on a dime these days. Make the best decision you can for you and your family based on what you know about today. The rest is unknown to all of us

Just find another job if your salary changes in two years.

There is a percentage of the work that will go overseas. But ya’ll keep acting like that wasn’t already happening. It has been, we just opened a new center in the Philippines(?) and it will continue to happen. However, due to our contracts with school and different states, we can’t send everything abroad.

Here is the other thing. You’ll have two years to look for another job there if you want to stay. They have 750k people, you have a much better chance of finding something different there than at TIAA for those who are staying with the train wreck. Currently at TIAA you either had to be the absolute top performer or get lucky with the timing of openings. There’s actually a chance to do something new now.

Here is the reality though. If you go in, do the bare minimum and whine that your job is going to get moved overseas. It will move and you’ll be left without a job. If you don’t act like this has been done just to pi-s you off and actually care about your work like you did before this exec team, and look at it as an opportunity, then you’ll at least have a chance. This is way the he-l more than what you’re getting in anywhere but Frisco for the foreseeable future. As ya’ll know it’s the only place with young talent left.

Put it this way, they pay you 2 years of existing salary, forget out exactly how you setup QDRO or TPA payment, then replace you with one of your fellow employees in India

Welcome to capitalism

No company will tell you 2 years ahead of time that anything specific is going to happen cause things change. It's normal to worry and wonder that far out, but no one can answer that question now, even Accenture itself.

What you DO have is salary protection for those 2 years (those left behind do NOT) and even if they decide to let you go, you get the same severance as TIAA. So blast the company all you want, but TIAA took care of the people going over.

Nothing is guaranteed for the future, but those going to Accenture have as much stability for 2 years as any employee could hope for these days.

Additionally, I'd be worried about unrealistic performance objectives etc., as they try to manage former TIAA personal to the door. If you quit out of frustration, no severance is due.

I’d be more concerned about your salary decreasing to zero when they ship your job overseas.
