Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

VOE to come out soon.

Very crafty indeed. Take care to note that the wording will be phrased to place any blame or praise solely on you. The examples given to me were along the lines of….

“In the direction the company is going, how do you rate YOUR contribution to the effort”
“If you think the direction of the company is wrong, how do you rate YOURSELF on trying to address it”

Naturally you’re going to rate YOURSELF higher so in that, the overall score will be high and a bragging point for Citi. Very crafty indeed, well done Citi, well done.

This may be the mini-VOE people have been talking about: I've been getting emails to do "Citi Brand Opinion" Surveys.
I completed one last year and never did another one after I figured out the Sh!t Show. The one and only Survey I completed had questions similar to the regular VOE, but it was an abridged version.

Since last year, I've been getting these BullSh!t Brand Opinion Survey emails every 3 to 4 months.
It's probably one way Citi is trying to do damage control because of Internet sites like thelayoff.com where employees air out Citi's dirty laundry for the world, media and potential job applicants to see (they'll get scared off by the Citi Horror Dysfunctional Clown Freak Show).
Citi wants to do a "What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas" strategy and try to keep comments, complaints and grievances in-house. Nice try though. It's Not working and Not happening.

You can expect this to be tried again via mini VOE after the first quarter and most definitely mid-year. A careful phrasing of the questions to throw ownership of the “state of the business” back on to the employee. If you answer anything with a negative response you will be expected to relate what are YOU doing to make things better.

This very thing to circle back around mid-Year on a mini VOE. Check out those questions then.

To the people of the realm, keep this in mind going forward. I suspect this midyear VOE and\or end of year VOE will be another round of them attempting to re-word the questions to put ownership of the state of the business on YOU instead of where it belongs which is the CEO.

So they are making some unpopular moves. They wanted to devise a way to manipulate the VOE to sell the story that even though they are making unpopular moves, “everyone is ok with it”. All the while thinking that everyone is too stupid to recognize what it really is.
Very classy, very classy indeed. Its no wonder why no one has any faith or confidence in Citi upper management.

For years to come people will be looking out for the VOE content to see if they try what the OP laid out the next go around.

In addition to Citi stupidly running off people, Citi’s mantra is that its better to hire more people even though they may eventually quit rather than to figure out as to why they may be leaving to begin with.

I say stupidly running off people as they ran off 300 MD for the headlines, then turned around to hire back 310 to replace them. In other words, “Citi math” in order to get the results you want to present. Not the results, but the results you want to present at that time no matter how fleeting it may be. Gee, I wonder how far this methodology permeates the company.

LOL…..
IF this is true, and Citi uppity ups ran around at the last minute to change the VOE survey questions….makes me laugh. You know that going forward, everyone will be on the lookout for such manipulations.

Citi Rocks!!!!

THIS is what’s wrong with Citi. Rather than trying to make things better, the focus is on the “appearance” of making things “look” better even if they are not. It permeates Citi all the way down to the simplest of surveys. Even the employee survey gets jostled around to massage and polish the results.

There has always been an effort to manipulate the employees, than there have been on actually listening to the employees. Citi wants sheeple to step in line. HR is the Citi tool of choice for such things. Forget Citi legal, its Citi HR you need to be afraid of. You’d think that if someone from HR read that, they’d be upset at such a statement but I assure you, upon reading it, they’d grin with pride. They revel in such a reputation. One thing for sure, you can easily tell when they make a post here.

I really hope this is not true because if it is, I find it disturbing. It would mean that the focus is more on manipulating the questions to manipulate the response to boost the numbers, rather than focusing on the fact that a.) no one believes its anonymous and b.) no one believes it’ll make a difference.

There’s your Citi ethics for you, its better to manipulate the people and not pay attention to the problem.

Well I was walking in a certain floor of a certain building, when I overheard the most interesting conversation between a certain person many of us know and another person well known among many, who said that they DID change the VOE questions just exactly as the OP described, until they read the OP (the second person said they check this site hourly and got mildly reprimanded for allowing a full 60 minutes to transpire unmonitored), at which point they said they realized beyond a doubt they had been busted, ratted out and hoodwinked! Chaos did ensue, as I did personally overhear. At which time a certain up-and-coming middle manager, not known to most people yet but soon to be known to all, quickly recommended simply using last year's questions to foil the terrible and selfless poster who had the audacity to speak the truth. Sadly, another problem, last year's questions could not be found! Until a very junior person who nobody knows, who has worked here at least over a decade and never even got a gratitude award, noted that they could use really any year's questions because they've literally been unchanged for at least that long! Well this group did work through the night and well into midday to foil the OP and then stealthily publish the VOE with the old questions but now each question has a special secret meaning that is only known by this group of certain people whose most private and confidential conversation I had the privilege to both overhear and now share with you good people of the realm.

I heard that if you score high, Jane gets another million $ raise.
If you score low, Jane still gets a million $ raise.
Also, if stock raises, she gets a million $ raise.
If stock lowers, she still gets…

Wait….um….no matter what happens she gets..wait…what?!?!

What happens if you click all the way through without selecting anything? How is that viewed? Does it default to all good? all bad? a middle score?

People are saying that if you click a low score you get an instant PIP and if you click a high score you get a donut. I also heard that if you read the questions backwards in a mirror the Slenderman will appear.

I heard the same thing but that if you ranked the company low on something, then the dialog box populates with “what are doing to make things better in this ‘x’ area” etc.. type thing. I’ve not taken it yet and probably won’t to be honest. I don’t have the energy to play their games. I don’t believe that it’d change anything or that its even the remotely private, no one does. Anyone who does is an ID10T.

As far as true intentions….yeah, HR often gets their underwear in a knot when you shine a light on their true intentions. They hate being called out.

@4vmk+1ummYVBC is most likely from HR and is on edge as this post may hit a little closer to the truth than they want. Time will tell.

If the VOE is worded as normal to get a feel of what you think about the state of things, we’ll know the poster was wrong.

If the VOE is truly worded in a way to put ownership on the VOE submitter, then we’ll know the post was right.

VOE at Citi is used by managers to identify different point of views and fire them to reduce head count in order to keep their own jobs safe due to the ongoing layoff process. Toxic management at Citi loves the disqualified managers who are only required to be able to cover up the mess and keep lying to everyone including investors and regulators.

Can any manager confirm that VOE is visible to them for their employees?

The OP does a real disservice to people by spreading such misleading information.

The Qs this year are the same as they've always been.

Seriously, what is your motivation? Just to be a jerk and get people worked up? Could you maybe find a more constructive use of your time and energy?

I have no confidence whatsoever that this VOE thing is confidential given words and messaging around this from management that at least in my perception, hint at it not being confidential.

I will give high marks as I believe a lot of people do to avoid being a target.

Honestly, if you think people sharing their real thoughts when it is a common thread throughout citi will get you canned you are lame coward. Even if 1/4 shared true feelings of shittiness they have to acknowledge there is a serious problem at the bank. But its way higher - but by all means lie and tie your own nooses and swallow your own vomit and say thank you may I have more.

Post ID: @3fmn+1ummYVBC Since Citi and your managers know who the VOE, then do as what the other posters told you to do. Score Both yourself And the VOE Low, below and even ZERO.
Then Wordsmith the Comments Section, and say something like "your contribution score is low because your ability to contribute is throttled by ineffective and chaotic management without direction and leadership to guide you toward success. You try your best, but you can only do what management tells you to do."
Also you can add that it's NOT YOUR responsibility to fix or improve Citi. This is the job for CEO Insane Jane, the Board of Directors and their MDs and Ds. Since Citi Wordsmithed the VOE, I would also add that Citi is a SNAKE for reframing and rephrasing the VOE to dump the onus of fixing FUBAR H3LLH0LE Citi onto the Employees by asking "How would YOU RATE YOURSELF on how and what YOU'RE DOING to improve Citi?" . Again, I myself WILL SCORE the VOE ZERO.

This is the time to fight back! Either don’t participate or give it LOW ratings to reflect the true condition of the company.
People are afraid to speak up, so let this be your opportunity to fight back!
Citi wants everything to look like it’s going in the right direction however it’s manipulating people’s feedback to show good results. Another ploy from Lame Jane and her directs to ensure their millions are secured.
It’s time to stand up and fight back!!!

How to play this game: Score yourself low so the numbers add up to low, then in the comments section explain that your contribution score is low because your ability to contribute is throttled by ineffective and chaotic management without direction and leadership to guide you toward success. You try your best, but you can only do what management tells you.
