Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Is L3 still a place for a long-term career?

If I had the mindset I have now back when I joined L3 nine years ago, I probably wouldn’t have considered it as a place to build my career, not to mention spend my entire working life here. Do younger workers today even see a long-term future with the company? I'm genuinely curious.

Oh yes - I am sure Bill Brown is responsible for the issues at L3Harris the past few years! As a shareholder I hope the BoD can be a little more level headed and see what has changed......

It isn't L3, that is name only, pretty much the only thing preserved in this so called merger of equals, this is Harris now. There is a reason Bill Brown was always among the most disliked CEO's. I think he got punched by someone once and always walked around with security. Obviously names changed but the result didn't.

As an L3 hire we had a great working environment with a can-do spirit. Since the merger with Harris we have been staffed with unqualified people with very little desire to learn.

We have lost the majority of our senior engineering people, and management can't figure out they're the problem.

No, learn all you can and move on. I left and went to Lockheed after they laid off all those employees and said this was the first tound. I need job security, not waiting around to see if I was going to be on the chopping block. L3Harris is no longer the great company it once was.

No. Harris was a place where once upon employees were once valued and rewarded. True career paths were laid out, and leadership encouraged growth and backed it up. What this place has become is beyond toxic. The leadership has no vision beyond their own personal interests and personal greed of what they can put in their pockets ASAP. I have been here for a long time and I have never seen this much turnover, especially in executive leadership. We are losing good people because the company doesn't want to pay them what they deserve. Managers state L3Harris isn't giving promotions and then you see all these e-mails about a promotion to vice presidents, president, and other exec titles. How can the company afford those raises but can't reward the hard-working level A through Level 5 employees who live paycheck to paycheck because of the increased cost of living. The current CEO and leadership are the worst I have ever seen—selfish, greedy, and with limited foresight.

Tier3Harris is not a career. Careers are dead. You have a job. Go to the highest bidder. You stay, you lose money. You stay and get promoted, you still lose money and self respect. Corporate P. Diddy will make you earn it.

No.
30+ years- and it was a fight every single year to find funding. Only 'hot new college grads' get rewarded, and then once you become niche you're 'too important' to train out/replace... until your contract/work environment shifts, and then you're useless to keep.

Get in. Get 5 to 10 years. Make them pay for your training. Then leave.

I was d-mb enough to think so. After being medically discharge as a 100% disabled veteran and L3Harris paying me to move myself and my family to OK, I though things were looking up. Fast forward 11 months later, I get RIF'd from my original program, and then RIF'd by the company 3 weeks later after being hired for another program. Then 6 months later I am offered a job at the OK site that is doing the job of 3 different sections for significantly less pay.

So no, this is not a long term career company unless you are being hired into the C-suite, if anything, its decent for recent grads to get resume fodder.

Not if you have a family depending on your support. Lots of layoffs with no notice and no actual PTO accrual so people are let go with no notice and no money to fall back on while they find something else.

The company used to put on a thin veneer of caring about their employees. Not so much anymore. I think they know morale is so far in the toilet they’d be embarrassed to send out an employee satisfaction survey now.

Nope. Been here 2+ years, was told the company doesn't do promotions out of cycle (only "at the end of the year"), and that all promotions have to go up to some VP somewhere to be approved.... for a promotion from L1 to L2........... with how many layoffs there have been in my short time here of primarily middle and late career engineers, I see absolutely zero reason to stay with the company.

The grass may not be greener on the other side, but at this point I'd settle for even having grass
