RTO and ADA requirements

Since we don’t have assigned seating, what about those of us with medical issue that require Ergonomic seating? For example, I have carpal tunnel and bad vision, there I need a big monitor and desk and chair adjustment.

How is that being handle for people with medical issues?

@3tsa+1uNdMu4W -- I haven't heard anything about wireless keyboards not being allowed, I know some people at my location use them and/or a wireless mouse. And just about everyone at my location has a bluetooth headset that was able to be ordered through my tech. And the headsets are also available in the tech vending machine.

Wireless keyboards are not allowed per risk. That’s why they aren’t available on my tech. But an ergonomic keyboard is. HR and managers are a joke, no one follows the rules anymore. Wait til you get caught

You can ask for a foldable ergonomic keyboard. They are available on Amazon. HR told me that my doctor just needed to include the verbiage of “light weight wireless ergonomic keyboard”. My manager ordered it and had it shipped to me once it was approved. I love the keyboard and it’s foldable and very light weight.

I also had the doctor add wrist rest pads and there are foldable ones also on Amazon.

I asked my manager for ergonomic equipment and was told that I could through the process but I would have to carry in and out what I am approved for. The bank does not want us to “personalize” the desk since we are not assigned one. Basically we can apply for ADA accommodation like a stand up desk but there is no guarantee you will be able to consistently reserve that stand up desk, meaning someone else can reserve instead. Us bank has taken on this mentally that their structure and approach to work is more important than our condition

I recent had to RTO after being remote for over 5 years. I have an issue with my left wrist that requires me to use an ergonomic keyboard. If I type on a regular keyboard for more than a day my wrist is in tons of pain.

It’s never been an issue before to request and be provided with an ergonomic keyboard; however, I was required to open a HR case and get a doctor’s note stating why I need an ergonomic keyboard.

The accommodation process is to open an HR case (your move champion can provide the link) and work with HR and your doctor to get the required medical notes for what you need. HR will make a permanent note in your file about the accommodation requirements and work with whatever departments required to make the accommodations.

The nice thing is that until your HR case is resolved, you can continue working as you are when you open the case. It delayed my RTO by a few weeks.

I have back issues, not visible, something it gets really bad and I have to let out a scream or can’t move at all. People that don’t know me probably asking why this person cube is setup like a disabled person. Outward, I look like a bodybuilder, but inside, my back issue is so back that sometimes I can’t even get out of my chairs.

And then there is the back spams that feels like needle poking at me, of course, none of my pain are visible.

Don’t judge someone by outward appearance.

Some people might even be going through medical treatment, but look fine on t.he outside, not everyone that is disabled looks like they are in a wheelchair

@1frb+1uNdMu4W Who made you the arbiter of what is considered a reasonable accommodation? You do not know what disability someone has and just because you cannot visibly discern it doesn't mean the requests for equipment and other requests are not valid. You sound like an HR tool.

Let’s see how many of you actually have a medical accommodation. There is a lot of wants versus needs out there and business lines were purchasing sit stands just to appease their employees. As they move into the hubs and all locations going forward, you will be required to seek a medical accommodation Through HR. It shouldn’t be hard, HR proves everything because they are so non-confrontational. What the business lines don’t understand yet is that this is a cost that will be continually passed on to the business lines. I have walk-through plenty of locations and see sit stands and people not using them. It’s an absolute waste of time.

There's a disability BRG with it's own Teams group that has coworkers experienced with that navigation. Via Reliant Matrix I think the request for ADA accomodations form is housed there.

I asked my manager about RTO issues and they really don’t know themselves since it’s Senior management like Elico and Andy making the decision as it goes

Talk to your supervisor they will find out and see if any accommodations can/will be made.
