Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Manager here. Don’t. Back. Down.

As a member of management who is part of contingency exercises, I am urging you to prolong this strike as long as possible. Short two and three day labor stoppages over a weekend are nothing but minor nuisances. Make the company pay. Fight for your rights. Prove to them that their lack of respect for all employees both management and non-management is unacceptable and we no longer take it. I will gladly work my contingency assignment for as long as it takes to stick this up their a-s. At least your district had the guts to walk out for more than two hours or tap pencils on your desks. Shut this system down and advocate for real change. Most stand by you 100% but please make it worth it. Don’t back down. For the first time, this is about all employees, not just union and we support you.

Disproportionately large amounts of managers and analysts of color are being laid off because of the color of their skin and culture.

Because they are late every day at least the days they show up and are extremely loud and the Odor of coco butter was making people Ill.

Yeah CPT , bedroom slippers , dreadlocks and walking slower than a turtle can be added to the list of corporate no no’s.

Add filling break room refrigerators up with Fanta orange drinks

Don’t forget about all the break room cabinets full of grape kool-aid and the ash cans full of menthol cigarette buttts.

Nah, union members want to at least go through the weekend so, we get some good rest when, we come back for our forced OT and repair all the sc--wups. You got this CP team but if the company wants to continue bargaining in bad faith then sorry, we can’t help you. Picket duty over for the day, headed to the 🏖️ and drink a cold one 🍺…ahhh!

This ULP stoppage will be over on Wednesday. Stay strong management team. Do as little as possible, temporize everything and let these dooshwad union people do the cleanup on forced OT when they get back.

Fire incompetent managers. For they will lead their groups into extinction.

“Fire those striking workers. Plenty of other people that want to work.”

Yeah…they’ll want the MST contract.

Or bring contractors. They ruin the plant. Hire in-house and retrain to salvage it. Lay them off eventually. Hire contractors. They ruin the plant.

@hpl+1u4wGRsh Selective reading there. Tons more people liking and disliking than commenting. And tons of downvotes on all sorts of comments including just on questions that are neither one side or the other.

Couple more times on the Pickett line this week then, I’m going to the lake for some fun and sun 😎. Maybe, the company will get back to bargaining in good faith, by the time I get back next week. Would like to see the contract settled but another week or two of fun and sun, won’t hurt my feelings either 🏄.

I posted on this thread 5 hours ago and came back to see others reactions. It is amazing how much all the comments in support of the union has been down voted. It is almost as if there is an organized effort by ATT to down vote anything in support of the union, or anything that could be considered favorable to the union.

You don't think union members are "boot lickers?" Of course you are; you're just licking the union leaders boots. Ever wonder why some people are worthy of a grievance strike and others are not? Ever wonder why local leadership seem to have a little gaggle around them and those select groupies seem to have more access and know more before the rest of memership? I've also heard local officers say things like "they don't speak unless I tell them they can." You just kiss a different a-s than the rest of us.

Notice to bootlickers there will be no bonuses this year or next and yet you still are a bootlicker. Support the union.

To the guy who made the comment about managers getting paid overtime for contingency assignments…

What planet are you on? A vast majority of management titles are exempt and do not receive overtime pay, but that is okay. I’ll work my assignment as long as necessary to ensure you get the best contract possible. Keep fighting.

To the ignorant union person who posted about knowing what your first and 2nd level managers feel and do, just don’t. Most union people are actually completely clueless as to what the management teams responsibilities and actions are day over day. Maybe a little bit with their field manager because of the hands on necessity, but not at all with the Assoc Directors.
Most union people can’t be bothered to even look at Webphone for 60 seconds and determine who their “leadership” team is, much less know anything about them.

Sounds like the CWA negotiating team did a poor job of delivering expectations. It is possible a fresh team could achieve better results.

Like most techs, we are good with staying out however long it takes.

Unfortunately I don’t see this going long, we are the only district to challenge the nonsense and file a ULP complaint. The company will sign off on a TA before the week is out or at least start bargaining in good faith. Like most techs, we are good with staying out however long it takes.

Most of our 1st line managers and 2nd lvls are good people, just trying to support themselves and their families like everyone else, the bad characters are at the top. Hopefully they get exposed because this company can’t take much more of the internal strife and low morale without, having serious consequences at many levels.

As an exempt manager I don’t get overtime pay. We did get a couple vacation days after being deployed last time, but I don’t think that’s guaranteed anywhere.

Can’t speak for everyone else but as a 25 year tech, I’m all for striking a month or two. The culture of this company is the worst I’ve ever seen, that’s for any employee below the c-suite. Per CWA bargaining update #44. The company representative felt that it’s ok to say out loud, to union negotiators, Wire techs are 2nd class, is beyond the pale. How do they feel about the rest of us? Obviously everyone is just “Human Capital”. This is been said more than once, probably in upper level management meetings. It would have been different if they said entry or lower skill level but to call them 2nd class, that takes it to a different level.

The company has a lot of fences to mend after this one is over, we won’t forget!

" I’ve been pro union my entire career and never heard a manager tell union workers to stay out"

Whenever I have a prem tech come to the house to repair something, I tell them they are crazy for not striking longer or more often. There is no way anything is getting done by the deployed managers. The training is ridiculous and useless.

Agree with other managers. I hope the union guys get something out of this but im the end, i dont have time to care.

Management is getting laid off in massive wave after massive wave (its the att culture now) and i have to focus on surviving without the help of a union. Most feel this way in my hub office and your outcome really isnt even a topic of conversation to us.

Fight your fight. I have my own to fight.

Are you sure it’s not about you wanting overtime pay over 10 or 12 hours depending on the assignment as well a strike bonus payment for working CP assignment? I’ve been pro union my entire career and never heard a manager tell union workers to stay out as most management employees can’t and don’t want to do their assigned CP job or be away from their family and the comforts of their desk job.

Just goes to show you this company wants to play woke and that they are for the people I have been followed around customers homes door slammed in my face just cause of the color in my skin always kind of laughed about it was no skin off my back, but now being called a second class worker second-class citizen is bringing up quite a bit of emotions I have worked with great employees of all colors never really felt like the second class worker took pride in what I’ve done. never really felt like my race mattered. After hearing. This definitely goes to show you more work needs to be done. Make them pay for more in 24

“ Correction sir, you’re a first line field manager who is just one step out of the union. The union getting what they want isn’t going to make your life any easier hoss. Why don’t you just mind your business and do your best to keep the lights on why these fools are out on the side of the road trying to convince the general public how hard they have it.”

I’m neither 1st line or a field manager. It’s amazing that some won’t even take support when it is given. Best of luck.

Earth to Manager....The union wants some street cred during DNC convention in Chicago. Nothing better than the pictures of the poor CWA oppressed workers at the hands of the Man "forced" to walk the line for their "living wage". Vomit.
