My boss offered no excuse. Just said it’s a Corp initiative and they had no choice but to implement it.

I prefer that answer over an excuse.

That's hilarious. Did you see the sit down interview with Trump and musk? Trump was basically telling him he was a hero for making people get back into the office and setting ridiculous edicts.

And I have no beef with that. I know my AD and L3 have zero say in the matter. And they know that we know that.

So why do we need ADs and L3s? If they are powerless to change policy and too spineless to push back, they can be replaced with an Outlook forwarding rule.

Every stoopid way they can think of. It’s a massive koolaid and compliance fountain. Not one sane person can look you in the face and tell you it has anything to do with collaboration. That’s why we’re nearly 18 months into it and not a shred of quantifiable data has been produced either by AT&T or another Fortune 500 company that shows a clear efficiency and productivity boost related to RTO. They’ll never be able to produce it because this has nothing to do with in-person collaboration period.

Don’t believe me….Watch how fast it goes away/disappears once Trump is back in office.

It depends on the job for contractors.
If they’re in ATS, developers, and their job function doesn’t require them to be in office, they aren’t.

Some orgs really believe RTO makes a difference and may require them to be in.

Our contractors are still WFH.

awhile back - like 3 years before covid when the telecommuting was being allowed again - contractors were still required in office 5 days a week.

Not true, my friend has been a contractor for 15 years & has always been WTF. Still to this day, too.

If it were all about in person collaboration then why are contractors exempt from RTO?

awhile back - like 3 years before covid when the telecommuting was being allowed again - contractors were still required in office 5 days a week.

Some people mention people back in the office is necessary because of tax breaks the company may have received - wouldn't having contractors report 5 days a week help that scenario too?

aside from lowering morale in the hopes folks quit, i can't see a reason why rto applies to employees only

Speaking of my immediate chain of command....AD and L3--They don't have to justify it, they have to follow the marching orders they have been given, therefore so do we.

And I have no beef with that. I know my AD and L3 have zero say in the matter. And they know that we know that. So what's the point of wasting a whole lot of time kvetching about it still? It is what it is.
