In my years with Cigna, it seems like there is a layoff every March.

The calendar I have only shows dates of announcements and when the layoffs are effective. Not specific to location / subsidiary company / etc. The next round of layoffs happen on 9/12 with effective date 10/12. That’s the pattern every month until the end of the year. I’ve not seen an HR calendar for 2025 layoffs yet but I wouldn’t be surprised…

If anyone is sharing any information about the layoffs, please try to be specific as it leads to more confusion.

Not a rumor. There’s a calendar. I have it. Every month thru end of year, around 2nd Thurs of every month.

Responding to:
Thinking the layoffs rumor was BS. Usually I hear of someone by Joe, but business as usual in CT office.

Ive been a contractor for over 17 months in IT with a promise of being converted a few months back. Well thats been delayed and delayed over and over. My day shift team is quite small and there are some HIH folks being on onboarded for nights. I wonder if the delay is because they are going to boot me? Ive been told it is a budget thing for why i havent been converted to FTE. Fu-k HIH.

Tired of these days and seeing the terrible outcomes of these decisions. I'm noticing almost all of our senior leads have been away for hour or so now and that tells you all you need to know.

“Will contractors be affected? IT?”

For sure.
I would think all contractor IT jobs are slated to go to Hyderbad.

You should focus on finding another job. Your going to be canned at the end of the PIP

The layoff decisions are interesting.
My understanding is that HR will weigh your:
Team’s/Department’s/LoB’s value
Salary
Skill set scarcity
Mgr’s rating
9-box results

In the age of back-to-office, how good or bad your job market is depends on your geographic location and your willingness to commute.

It’s like 2010 all over again!

To the below people

  1. What kind of tension did you sense in your meeting ? Why do you think it’s related to Layoffs
  1. To the 50 year old colleague : what ido you do ?Everyone says it’s a bad market so curious .

I’m over 50 now and have been with the company 11 years. Despite being easily the highest performer on my team, I expect to be cut. However, I’m in a very good job market and should be able to get back to work soon.

My coworkers are mostly in their 30s, but they barely work 30 hours per week.

Oh well…the sun will shine on my a$$ again soon enough.
