Some corporate cultures exacerbate employee anxiety to an unhealthy degree. Supervisors pray on workers who are overachievers, driving them to work unhealthy hours but it’s never enough. Then there is the unhealthy cut-throat culture to out-rank your fellow worker or to make a grab for that highly visible project. To row with the boat, you will be ask to distort your sense of integrity to make things happen for those up the chain. To protect yourself, perhaps you disengage with others…never to inquire into their well being? It’s a vicious cycle because eventually you will convince yourself that this is normal behavior to belong to the cult of WAEM.
The company will never realize anything because it is a heartless entity. But people have choices. What will you choose?
