Does anyone know if they monitor our chat conversations?

I remember years ago at Cingular. We used an internally developed IM product, don’t remember name. Someone posted something inappropriate, and it immediately got flagged and we heard a ding on the group’s Mgr PC who sat across from us.

Key words monitored for ones they're interested in. Such as "I gonna stab you bi--h a-s in breakroom today with a steak kn--e". But they don't get alerted to "send me that email".

If they archive it, it can be subpoenaed. They keep that sort of thing as little time as possible because their petty need to spy on you is crushed by potential lawsuit liability. I am sure if security flags you then you will have your messages read, but in general there is no need for them to do this.

Don’t worry. I’m sure someone will hack all of our ms teams data soon and it will all be on the internet. Let’s just hope it includes the stank so we can see what he is up too

If you wanted to chat about something off the record, why wouldn’t you just use your personal cell phone instead of company email, chats, etc.

HR here. AT&T does not have the sophisticated technology to “literally toggle an icon” to receive notifications of every single disparaging chat on every single one of 134,000 registered MS Teams users. So Claus, when you said JVB t1ts are starting to sag, we did not see that… not at all. Let alone set up a report for every JVB mention in AT&T. Definitely not Brent’s chat about wobbling his head right into the bouys that he sends to Frank every single week like clockwork.

I'm on the development team that provisions access to teams. The truth is that messages are monitored for SSN's, Credit card info, etc. There is no real monitoring of conversations back and forth done by any system. Data is stored in the graph API for a limited amount of time, and you need have specific privileges to even get data back for yourself, let alone to be able to read conversations. The volume of data is so large that you'd need several servers to gather all the messages and make them into real, usable content for someone to even read.

This is BS:

Yes, conversations are not actively monitored but they are achieved and CAN be accessed.

As a supervisor, it's not hard for me to get records on your convos on teams.

Dan Fete, who retired 5+ years ago, stated in a town hall that T tracks every keystroke. I am not sure if it is true but would not doubt it.

What do they monitor? There are group chats where I see directors and above talking down on company policies. I joke around about coworkers and company policies all the time with coworkers and I’m still here 15 years and counting with good reviews and respect. I wonder where they draw the line on professionalism.

Assume every keystroke and work location is monitored.

They (ATT) have monitored you internet access for years. Hats like almost everything else leaves an audit trail or history that can be viewed later it does not have to be real time. So in all probability yes they are monitoring your chats

Hi,
CSO office memes here. The only reason why we switched from Q , is because the ability to monitor 100% of what you do/say in teams

it's unlikely that real time monitoring is at a large scale. However, anything you say can and will be used against you, especially if you bring extra attention to yourself.

This is the best answer.

"of course not. feel free to converse casually and freely in MS Teams"

I hope my sarcasm was detected.

You bet your @ss its monitored, but what you type isn't the only thing. MS Teams has speech coaching and also captures closed captioning. You can (and I have) export the entire script from a meeting in MS Teams. So if you have any unkind words to share about ATT, I'd recommend doing it outside of ATT MS Teams account.
