Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

D3 - Unfair Labor Action Filed

The company continues to bargain in bad faith and hasn’t offered one improvement since, bargaining began over 2 months ago. It’s been over a week since the contract expired at midnight August 3rd so, the union filed the ULP. Last contract employees went out on a ULP strike within two weeks, don’t see any change this time.

The Union would rather negotiate and bargain in good faith obviously, the company would rather litigate and involve the govt. and public. They will get their wish, time for all the issues to be brought to light!

Union goofs continue to whine, just strike already. You’ve been saying it for 6 months, but you won’t because you have no leverage with T. Your contract won’t be worth the paper it’s written on and we will all continue to laugh at you stooges.

It’s the government what do you expect, just because something isn’t posted on-line doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

One of the grievance strikes is in my state; some locations in the local besides the affected one also walked in solidarity, but it was sparse. Only 2 news stations have posted about it, and both of them spelled the worker's name incorrectly. It certainly did happen, but obviously wasn't deemed newsworthy enough. It also looks a little ridiculous and takes the teeth out of the looming contractual strike IMO.

I don't see any recent ULP's filed against AT&T, take a look at the NRLB's website.

If you would read the other post and the D3 strike thread near the top of the site, you would already know that ULP strikes a have already started. Please, don’t be tone deaf like, so many of your peers. It’s why so, many employees no longer respect management. We could put up a power point if, it would make it any easier. 😆 JK

"Thanks for bringing some common sense to the thread, many employees don’t understand what a full-on strike would mean for the company. The intense pressure from the public, government agencies like, ABC intelligence, military, emergency services, 911, FCC, politicians, etc. you think there are outages, investigations and fines now, let a long strike happen. Bargained were considered essential during the pandemic for a reason."

We are already walking in various locations, what part of strike don’t y’all understand? Waghh! how dare we negotiate a fair wage or for work rule improvements. I don’t seem to remember any managers complaining at the first of the year when they received wage increases and bonuses. We all want the same for ourselves and our families, nothing nefarious going on just a fair agreement on wages and working conditions.

You sound very angry, don’t pop a vein! Sorry but the Robber Baron days are in the past. If you only knew what you were talking about so, what part of the company is only offering regressive proposals and no improvements, don’t you understand? From your attitude, I assume you told your manager that you didn’t need a raise or bonus this year because, inflation doesn’t affect you and you are overpaid? I’m sure you suggested they spread your compensation around to your co-workers, let’s get real. I hope you aren’t in any kind of leadership position because your entitled attitude is what is wrong with this company’s c-suite.

The union is trying to bargain in good faith with reasonable proposals to come to an agreement but when your employer is only hostile and won’t bargain in good faith then, it becomes an impasse. The union is using a legal option, ULP that was enacted in 1935 to bring the company back to the table and bargain in good faith. The General Counsel will investigate and give a ruling then if the Union is wrong, you can start to co-k-a-doodle again! Time will tell, won’t it?

"ULP = Crybaby union BS where they want what they want and that’s it. Company should bend over and just give them what they want OR ELSE!!

Go ahead CWA, call your little ULP strike and let’s get it over with. D9 has a TA in hand which means it’s all for not anyway. Just STFU and take whatever the company gives and move on. You dummiez are already overpaid and underworked as it is."

Tick Tock, you tried to tell them not to mess with D3 and gave them hints. The sycophants are playing checkers while you and the Union play chess. Now the contingency team don’t know where the next Strike will pop-up so, they have to wait around delaying any vacation or out of town plans. They can thank Stankey and HR Labor team for that, the union tried to bargain in good faith, all the company wants to do, is offer regressive proposals that they know aren’t reasonable. Thus impasse and the filing of an Unfair Labor Practice.

The negotiators thought it was going to go like the last District, wait around forever and not strike after, the contract expired. They should have learned their lesson last contract, with D3 but who said they were smart. D9 members should be filing a ULP if, they don’t get back pay because it’s a company tactic to get out of paying raises for 5-6 months. Believe it’s against the labor act to do that but union lawyers need to look into that.

How long will it take the General Counsel to review the Unfair Labor Practice? Lot of drama for very little change, contract will be very close to all the others ratified last 2 yes.

  1. 4-5 yr contract
  2. 14.25%-17.25% depending on contract length, possible COLA
  3. Minor work rule improvements
  4. Everything else stays the same.

Must of struck a nerve, the company sycophants keep reloading and downvoting all the post like crazy. Employees know the truth so, downvote away it won’t change the facts. This union “slug” tech worked on the frontlines during the pandemic, where were you? Luckily, I made it and didn’t die like, my friend did from the chinaflu.

We (union) are only asking for to bargain in good faith and reach a fair agreement. When the company is hostile and only offers regressive proposals, it results in an ULP being filed because they aren’t following the law.

I don’t know about anyone else but I handed an engraved token, thanking me for working through the pandemic. I tried spending it at the store but it didn’t work. That’s all I ever received or heard from management.

I couldn’t tell you how many lines I installed or upgraded from DSL to Uverse or fiber so, customers could work from home during the pandemic. The company had a captive audience and made a lot of money from it. I was so stressed and anxious that I would bring home that sh-t to my family. I took extreme measures of removing my clothing, boots, using alcohol and washing off in my garage. I did it every workday before entering my home because I have a daughter that has diabetes and catches everything due to a low immune system. I really feel valued, pi-s on you immoral “leaders”, all you care about is yourselves.

This company’s leadership doesn’t care about their employees. I’m a frontline tech who, continued to work during the pandemic, I had an Uncle, Aunt and one of my best friends died after contracting Covid-19, early days. It makes me angry and pi---d at how we are treated now, God forbid we get any compensation or working improvements for working and servicing our customers during those hazardous times while, management hid at home. We kept the nation connected, maintained and being able to work (Zoom) from home. At the time we were considered essential, even issued a citation from POTUS stating it but we see how essential we are to the company now that the trouble is over. SO, F U STANKEY!!! Hope you are enjoying your croissant in Paris, A-hole!

Good posts, I agree. The Union needs to issue a press release of what is happening, emphasize how the union worked during the pandemic, exposed themselves and their families while, nearly all management worked from home. Majority of management was still working from home until recent RTO mandates. Now the same union workers, who risked their lives, are not even being shown any respect by the company. They are not even offering any improvements or bargaining in good faith. They are only offering outrageous take backs while, the company continues to make billions of net profits and the company officers have been getting large raises and bonuses. Back to the days of the Robber Barons and the Serfs, only Human Capital!

ULP = “Unfair Labor Practice”

What a joke, it shouldn’t have to come to this every contract. Had a 5 year contract and 2 months to bargain before the contract expired, now working 2nd week without a contract. Leadership continues to thumb their nose at employees by not bargaining in good faith, so much for valued employees and you matter. How quickly they forget all the frontline technicians that put their and their families lives on the line by continuing to work during the pandemic. Everything was unknown at the time, people were dying by the thousands but technicians showed up and worked, when it counted.

The Union isn’t asking for unreasonable wage increases or work rule improvements. Everyone lost a lot due to inflation, too many layoffs, attrition that has caused work/life balance and wage issues, for most workers. The metrics have been we-ponized for layoffs and harassment so, managers can make an ever increasing number for a bonus. They need green on their dashboard but the numbers continually change yearly without being properly measured, creates a toxic environment and a safety issue for outside techs.

The ULP falls under National Labor Relations Act of 1935. The General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board will investigate the complaint.

“ Section 158(a)(5): Requires employers to bargain collectively in good faith with the union.” refuse to bargain with the union that is the lawful representative of its employees.
