What to expect from HR when reporting an ethics violation?

I would expect you would be painting a target on your back. AT&T does not seem to care about unethical behavior unless they get caught up in the News cycle.
It will trigger a chain of "how do we make it look like we acted on this report?" actions. People will be interviewed, AP will document it, and everyone will move on. It will not go where you think it should.
You will find yourself out the door in a few months.
Expect a review at the end of the year with a Does Not Meet, no raise, and to be micromanaged out of the business. They will make your life miserable until you quit or if you stick it out too long, you will be "re-org'd" to a new position and then cut in the next surplus.
unfortunately not much will be done. I reported 3 ethics issues over the years using the anonymous hotline/website. Provided documentation and first hand reporting of theft and s-xual misconduct by an AM. Asset Protection reviewed and did nothing. AM continued the activities until he retired
To be placed in the crosshairs of the “falling axe”.
Expect to be gone within a year.
My brother was browbeat daily for months by his mgr., then AM, then GM & was terminated. At grievance they presented their evidence - full of lies. Then bro presented his evidence AND the union told the arbitrator that they had tape recordings of the mgr & AM cussing, lying, attacking my brother. Management attorneys said no. The Union said it proves all mgt lies and the arbitrator said play the secret in pocket recordings which disproved most all mgt statements. My brother got rehired, transferred AND all of the mgt failings went with him making his worklife a nightmare.
Suggest you transfer out or retire - but internal filings will just make you a target for retaliation, future layoffs. Company programs are designed to protect the company. YOU are on your own.
T doesn’t care about ethics and HR definitely doesn’t care about you.
An old white dude dressed me down in front of a group of co-workers and within the vicinity of three offices and the break room. I was well on my way to being fired. Someone over heard what he said and filed an ethics complaint. My pending termination was dropped and he resigned 4 weeks later. So in my case, it worked.
Don't waste your time reporting in the ethics violation. They will only laugh behind your back and tell your boss. They are there to protect the company not to listen to your whining
- If you have any evidence make sure you'll be able to access it after you report the ethics violation.
- Be ready for retaliation.
Remember: HR and Asset Protection are there to protect the company not you. If those ethics violations aided the company they'll likely turn a blind eye and treat you as the problem.
Do people at T still have ethics? And I mean the top of the ladder? What do you expect from the bottom?
You will be "helped" by a chatbot
You will be transferred to another work group to prevent retaliation and then, by sheer coincidence, end up in the next round of surpluses from the new work group. Seen it happen more than once over the years.
Absolutely NADa, nothing, the ole goose egg, like expecting a good contract from the Union and the company honor it, not happening
You’ll be surplused most likely. HR is only looking for people violating RTO. Ethics complaints get in the way of laying people off. Gotta pump those numbers!
Don't report it to HR. Report it to asset protection.
I reported one years and years ago. They basically said ‘what do you expect us to do?’
To be treated as the problem.
