The problem I've seen with India contractors and our own manilla engineers is maybe 20% are good and the rest are terrible. All their work has to be redone correctly and not really sure what they are contributing. How long will it take for them to be skilled enough to be able to replace without dragging down the business

I've been through the offshoring of jobs at other companies. There are several hurdles to overcome. Timing of work, completion and thoroughness of work, delays due to stuff happening half way around the world. You will see expat assignments in these centers once management figures out the quality is not up to snuff. Unfortunately, these plum assignments will go to the HiPots or a management favorites who aren't interested in teaching and mentoring the workers. The main reason for lack of interest is that they don't know how to do they work themselves. Better hold your nose. We're going in. Good luck to all.
Many “engineers” in the US say openly they don’t want to do technical work, they are happy dealing with power point all days long and talks in meetings , a salary of one of them is a team oversees that for sure will deliver work that is needed
@gdz+1tMf8Iry That would work if six of them could work together to get the right answer. You can’t make a baby in one month with nine women. Adding incompetence in greater numbers doesn’t solve the problem.
I’ve got bad news for you - the %s are only slightly better for US employees. We carry so much dead weight on payroll, I don’t blame leaders for their continual headcount cuts; the problem is that the way they do them doesn’t get rid of the dead weight and instead drives away the top performers.

The C suite does not care about the problems being caused or the rework that has to be done. The issues you see today take time to bubble up into some kind of crisis. Meanwhile, the stock price is up and the bonuses are good (well, not for you).
It doesn’t matter… at $40 per hour for their time vs $300 an hour for yours… they will hire 6 of them to do the work you did and still save money… that’s still a win. Not our headcount and less $$$.
Ya think - the overseas people can only read and do from a manual - they are dragging down the business - but the higher ups lovvvvveee their cheap labor
