“Be sure to have the ba--s to inform your boss that you refuse to RTO. Anything less is just childish.”

Nah I’ll just keep coffee badging and working from home til the job market improves and I find something else. Been doing it since last August and haven’t had a single run in with HR or anyone else. I don’t think T has the means to implement proper hour tracking without spending money on additional scanners, sensors, etc which they aren’t gonna do anywhere except Dallas and Atlanta so if you just avoid those offices, you’re good.

“ Yes, we are still talking about it and we will continue to talk about it and complain about it. Just because insanely long commutes aren’t impacting your life personally, they’re affecting hundreds, maybe thousands, of other lives. It’s 2024 and the world su-ks. Let people be with their families as much as possible. I’ll never shut up about RTO.”

Instead of complaining do something about it. Be an adult and choose to move on to something better. The weak are the ones that stay in the same old rut and do nothing but complain. You probably grew up in the age of the participation trophy.

“Yup, neither did the ones that forfeited their bonuses this past Spring. Yes, that's real and it impacted a lot of people. So you go ahead and enjoy your "cool" Boss.”

You fear mongers have been pushing that they’re going to get rid of bonuses anyways, right?
Sounds like more reason to just not follow their stupid initiatives.

Maybe the L2 office workers should join the union. Just a thought. Obviously what we’ve been doing hasn’t help most of us. Our quality of life, no career opportunities, more offshoring, rebadging, stupid amounts of hours, more and more work, with nothing for additional comp. I really think it’s time.

Please do not comply with RTO so this “Union Slug that has been showing up for work, pandemic and all can get a little bump in my 401k. The more of you that gets fired, the more the company saves on payroll. I'll admit it isn't immediate, but I'm playing the long game. Thank you for your support.”

This isn’t about COVID, But let’s visit that for your sake. You forgot that you got paid an extra 10 % during that time, you had PPE, and you had a van. You had the tools you needed to CONTINUE doing your existing job. And it was already your role before the pandemic to be on site with customers, in their homes or businesses - even if they had the flu or plague.

Many of the RTO complainants were hired with WFH as a company benefit as part of the offer before Covid came about. Then, they were asked to go to offices either across the country or else, or if they had a local office, they didn’t even have a seat. And they aren’t even collaborating with their own team. It is counterproductive. It isn’t about trips to Costco, as that seems to come up. It was about being up all night on tech support, having calls and meetings with clients the next morning, and then after working 21 hours - sure- go to Costco on your “comp time” even if you get comp time.

It is about company promises that they went back on and asking people to perform without tools for the job at a better level than before. And paying for bad decisions made at a high level - the same thing a “Union Slug” (you said it not me) would strike on.

and COVID is resurgent

so sitting in that viral frappe could endanger your health

besides, who needs the add pollution and time wasted commuting especially when it is show that people are more productive and work longer hour remote?

They don't even have office space or parking spaces for everyone but we must all relocate on our own dime to Dallas and then figure it out. Most of my team that already went there still work in different office buildings so how is that any different than working from home in your old location?

“Where can we view the RTO reports and how 'collaboration' has changed since forcing the policy?”

Nothing has changed, most of us are coffee badging and still meeting on teams.

All you in favor of RTO are the sheep. Keep thinking you’re “essential”, boomer. The bell tolls for you.

“It is one thing for the C-suite to lie and disguise RTO as anything other than tax incentives but it’s another for lower levels to actually believe the lies and believe people need to be in a crusty dusty office.”

No one believes it except people desperate for the stock price to go up with no new revenue streams in sight.

“This conversation really does show how un-essential your roles are.”

So… a job is only essential if it requires face to face communication? LMAO. How very 20th century of you. I’m sure the outages and data breaches could’ve been stopped by a team lunch and not the correct clicks of a mouse on a computer.

“This conversation really does show how un-essential your roles are. The more data, percentages and numbers applied only backs this statement up. You non-essentials do know your time and positions are on the clock?? There is a reason for full blown buy in to AI from corporate elites...do you really think they would be making the large financial leap & investment in AI to help make your job easier and keep paying you the same money and forced never-ending federally mandated benefits!?! All this to save your non-essential place holder position!??! Get a reality grip and come out of your sheep den peeps...your falling right into their hole and justifiably giving them a reason to go faster! My faith in mankind seemingly gets less and less by the day with this RTO stand that will yield what exactly???”

Can type keys on keyboard at home same as at office - must be nonessential.
Can take teams calls at home same as at office - must be nonessential
Can write code at home same as at empty office - must be nonessential

I’m sure a lot of middle management positions aren’t necessary but the technical people working from home are necessary. Just because our teams work all over the country and there’s no reason for us to commute an hour to do the same thing at the office as we do at home doesn’t mean we’re nonessential. That’s nonsensical

“If you were hired before, work from home, you really can't complain. You were hired under working in the office. Stop being a bunch of whiny people and do what you're told. The company didn't hire your kids or your wife or your grass or your packages that need delivering. It just hired you. So show up and shut up.”

Maybe it’s just because I’m in a certain organization, but I can’t think of one person at T who was driving to the office 3 days a week prior to covid. Also you sound like the worst person lol
