Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Business Group Moving to India

Our group serves a critical operational risk management function. We are training our replacements based in India. These folks are not competent. All of aor meetings are now in the am. It's a matter of time before my job is replaced. Having a hard time dealing with this. A big US company eliminating jobs that provide US born citizens a good quality of life and exchanging that for a person in India. So messed up. So stressful. We are being told to train them faster. Hurry up and train them. Why aren't they trained yet. Don't you see this will be good for your performance review that you created efficienies? Your review is based on your success of actively participating in moving your own job overseas. Risks be damned. Hurry up, are they trained yet?

I think the state and federal officials are the ones responsible for this. Do you think telling them that they are doing a bad job will help?

Call, send letters, and email your state and federal representatives. If enough of us raise the alarm, they might realize how shortsighted corporate execs are destroying the middle class while simultaneously putting our country at risk by hiring in India - a country that's cozy with Putin and Iran.

Maybe not as much of a critical operational risk as you fancied.

Why should you care about performance reviews if you are training your replacements? Keep the training high level, skip the details. There is a good chance the person you are training will have moved on to a better opportunity within a year anyway.

Yes, we as a country need to address this issue immediately. Our political candidates need to start talking about this issue vs. calling each other names like elementary school children. Clearly Wall Street cannot be trusted with the future of our country. Where do we go after all of our good-paying jobs are gone? I've seen what happened to the Rust Belt when this happened to good paying blue-collar jobs. Those areas have largely been destroyed and are not coming back. So now we are going to do that to the rest of our economy?

There is no risk in offshoring op risk jobs. nothing critical or complicated in what they do.

Is that all there is
Is that all there is?
If that's all there is my friends
Then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is

You're not alone op. Tens of thousands of WF employees are in the exact same boat or have already been downsized. The sad reality is that the entire financial industry in the US is on the same path. Some banks lag behind, some are ahead of the curve, but it's all the same result. Banking being a business with a large domestic workforce is dying. Most of us will have to transition to other fields.

How does the public or Congress not care about U.S. employees training their replacements? This is beyond sick already.

I don't know what to do for my career. In my area, the tech career is gone, the quant career is gone, and the risk is gone.

If the jobs are still there in the US and I interviewed, they always seem to hire their own at the end.

Where do I go? Where can I go?
