60 Day notice

I was recently laid off , am I able to work during the 60 day notice? Or would that forfeit my severance package?

Why are people he-l-bent on testing their severance eligibility requirements? What if I do this? What if I do that? FAAFO

As soon as your new employer makes an SSA deposit under your SSA# WF is notified. This is done routinely to prevent excessive SSA withholding. That's how they know.

I don't know why this is such a problem for some people to understand. During the notice period you're still being paid, so you're not about to become homeless if you don't rush out to find a job as a greeter as fast as possible. In this market, finding a good gig, getting screened, interviewing, being selected, and going through background is highly likely going to take more than 60 days. It's really simple, if you're at day 45 and you get a call with a job offer, you just tell them that you're excited about the opportunity and would love to come work for them, but you can't start until the Monday following the day your notice period ends. No employer worth a cr-p will have an issue with this. If you don't want to tell them about the severance situation, don't. Tell them you need to spend time with your ailing grandmother. Whatever, but done start a new job while in your notice period and throw away your own severance. Just don't do it. Never makes sense and in practical terms, hardly anyone is finding a great new gig fast enough for it to even be a question anyway.

This question has been answered like a hundred times on here. Read the severance agreement. It clearly states that if you start ANY (including part time) new employment during the 60 day notice period you are forfeiting your severance. You can call the displacement team to confirm this as well.

Are you working for cash? Or in some way that WF could never find out about it? Or perhaps under statement of work contract and you are just a principal in the entity that executed the contract? If you become an employee you have more risk of detection (supposedly). You are not the first to ask this question and most of the guidance is don’t risk it (you’re getting advice from risk-averse bank employees after all).

No, you are still considered a WF employee during the notice period
