Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

No one is really safe

Even if you weren't the name or two your manager submitted, a leader two tiers above them could rif the whole group anyway. It's a 12% cut. Enterprise wide. We're outsourcing much of the work that isn't automated to carelon global. And we're automating anything possible. The US workforce is the most expensive. They'll keep cutting it until the pendulum swings back when contracts are lost because the quality is so bad. My guess is that if you can survive a couple bumpy years, we'll swing back to a more person based touch and have to rebuild the workforce.

Bumping this for important info on layoffs. Found here: @1vvx+1tyYey8n

Policies are absolutely relevant. Make some rules about who/where/when data can be accessed … better yet data ownership … and what companies can get away with changes overnight.

UHG is at record profits amid layoffs, hacks, terrible service, etc … nobody really cares. Leaders see that and will follow suit.

Well it all makes sense on “change “

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Healthcare contact center and nurse services provider Carelon Global Solutions Philippines is set to expand its operations by adding 1,000 more seats next year.
This move will push the company’s staffing beyond the 10,000-worker mark, reinforcing its commitment to growth in the Philippines.
Current workforce and locations
Carelon Philippines Chief Country Executive Nicolai Agcaoili announced the expansion during a briefing last week.
“As we speak, we have more than a thousand jobs in the pipeline. So, with that, my fervent hope is to get us to breach the 10,000 mark,” Agcaoili told BusinessWorld.

Carelon Global is terrible. They cannot keep decent talent and it takes them forever to hire. KPIs for their effectiveness would be easy to monitor but no one really cares. Leadership sees it as a double-dip advantage. After this reduction it shouldn't take too long for clients, members, and providers to start feeling the negative impact and for that pendulum to swing back. Leadership will just have fewer people to defer their accountability to and yell at in the interim.
