Another week and still no news. I would expect a major announcement if Clifton was being sold in 2025.

@7kwy+1ssSRriu, the reason you probably haven't left the company is because you're not qualified to work for anyone else. Odds are you got your job at Clifton by lying about your education and background. Don't sweat it. You won't get caught. The people that hired you are just as feckless as you are. Don't complain about the workload. When the time comes for you to get laid off, you'll be outside with your face pressed against the glass waiting for a chance to get back in. I've seen your kind before.

The Clifton NJ location is a property that was part of ITT before being spun off into Exelis in 2015. Then acquired by Harris in 2018. Following the merger in 2019, the facility is owned by L3Harris Technologies. There is no mortgage. However, the company pays over $1.1 million in property taxes to the city of Clifton every year. Most of the nearly 1 million sq. feet is vacant. Layoffs in October 2023 and April 2024 reduced the workforce there by well over the 5% company-wide average. Over 80 union members, about 35%, were let go as well as over 150 non-union management personnel, or, about 40%. Most of the senior management have already been let go or forced into early retirement. Even so-called "manufacturing engineering" positions, an honorary job title with no formal education to back it up, are held by non-degreed, glorified assemblers and testers who took a small promotion because the company has been unable to retain legitimate engineers.
Last year, the Clifton property had a fair market value of over $20 million. A large chunk of the struggling SAS business was sold off on June 3, 2024.
In short, selling the property will generate at least $25 million in income and free up over $1 million a year just in tax savings not to mention 1,000 fewer mouths to feed. Space and Airborne Systems is small enough to be moved to Rochester where 6,000 people on hand will do the work for a lot less money. GPS will move to the Florida space coast to be closer to the action.
The Clifton property has already been shown to potential buyers and the sale will probably happen in early 2025.

The Clifton site has already been toured by perspective developers. Financing is difficult right now because of high interest rates but, make no mistake, once things loosen up a bit financially, the Clifton site will be sold to a developer and reconstructed for another use. I personally know an insider. An offer has already been made. Don't believe what HR tells you. You can ask your current manager but likely they will be leaving soon anyway.

SAS moving to Rochester. GPS to Florida. One million square feet of commercia l/ industrial manufacturing space right next to route 3 for sale in Clifton NJ. L3HARRIS makes millions on the property, saves millions on property taxes, consolidates its real estate footprint, and finally gets rid of local 447. Late 2025 coming pretty soon.

They could sell the property for commercial use. Just expand the commons.

emptying office space and creating unused square footage is a common practice among companies that are downsizing. they report to the municipality unused square footage and get a reduced tax rate for that. it's a desperate attempt to save money while they look for a buyer for the property.

They’ve been 1 by 1 gutting and renovating the office areas. What other office tenant could they possibly sell to? Businesses are leaving blue states like NJ in droves, defense is one of the only industries that can sustain the high costs due to the feds running the money printer.

painting and landscaping is what you do when you're getting ready to sell the property . Laying off twice in 5 months ( October and April) totalling over 20% of the location when the rest of the company is laying off 5 % is not a company that has log term plans. You're in hopeful denial if you think Clifton is staying open for a long time. Wake up Bobby. They're about to kick you out of the only home you've ever known. Good luck loser.

They have made the facility a lot nicer since I joined in 2018. I still worry though that they could sell, recover all their costs and still profit on the location being prime real estate.

They’ve been spending quite a bit of money on Clifton facility upgrades, I doubt that would be happening if they weren’t planning on sticking around for the foreseeable future. Camden on the other hand…

How’s Clifton going? I’m miserable. Been so for a while. Doing the work of three people, not RIF induced, doing well just gets you more work. A manager I had 10 years ago who long since retired even said I do the work or three people. My current department chooses to exploit my talent and capabilities. Things are poorly planned and executed. Sub-par performance is not reprimanded even though I point it out all the time to the appropriate personnel. Well beyond average performance got me an “average” raise to quote my GL. Operations can’t build anything right, PE’s don’t know what they are doing. Level 6 IPT leads…perform at level 2 standards. SI&T is a mixed bag of talent. Digital design, Power and Mechanical have a well rounded team and are the backbone of Clifton. Systems is alright, but a lot of OG’s that are just familiar with one box and not valuable outside of the one thing they’ve been doing for years. HFDT is a joke and a thinning herd to soon be farmed out. People here and there have been leaving for the greener grass.

since the union workforce has been reduced by about one third, plans to expand the assembly area have been put in hold. Space and airborne systems will probably move to Rochester New York and Palm Bay Florida. GPS is likely to be moved to Florida as well . The Clifton business is still plagued with quality issues. The skill set is gone. One million square feet of mostly unused space is a waste of money. I see the place being closed and sold off in a couple of years or less.
