Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

30 years at the Bank, now treated like a Temp

Treat me like a temp by not having permanent desk, forcing RTO, laying off productive co worker and lying to us about people first and culture cr-p.

Treat me like a temp, I will act as one. 30 years as a top performer and rising to VP, I will now act as a temp and never volunteer for anything and clock out as soon as my 8 hours are done

Most VP’s in this organization got there on merit. Getting to the higher levels is a different story. There is a formulaic process to progress to the higher ranks, and most VP’s know exactly what it is. Some have the stomach for it, and others simply don’t, but it has nothing to do with your product knowledge or productivity. As with most positions of authority, the people that want it the most probably want it for the wrong reasons, and are the last people that should be placed in charge – but at USB that’s who gets the corner office. Longer tenured VP’s can be of tremendous value to the organization, and it should surprise no one that they are feeling mistreated.

This place works off the buddy system. If you are buddies with the managers and higher ups and you kiss their behinds , you are golden. So has 30 years of buddies and puckering helped you ?

Ever since the Union Bank acquisition it has just felt like chaos and executives are just way out of touch with the front line employee. The TTUS survey feels useless because all it does is get directed at your manager when a lot of things are pretty much out of their control. My manager is awesome to work with and has told me they hear a lot of the stuff when we hear it. Lack of transparency with the whole push back to office (it’s not in person collaboration, it’s to keep corporate real estate values up). Everyone knows that was a farce from the beginning and now the executives have lost trust and rightfully so.

i work with someone who has 30+ years at the bank. Completely incompetent and is highly confused during every meeting. Multiple HR complaints against them for their treatment of the team...instead of being booted, they got moved and promoted cause apparently "tenure" works the same as in a university here.

It’s really rude how some of you are judging and degrading person tenure. It depends where you start but if you start at one of the lower levels no way you can climb to C-Suite. Let’s be serious we aren’t all Richard Davis.

OP is not a good employee . 30 years at one company and only made VP. That’s why they treat you like a temp. Surprised they haven’t fire your dead weight. Probably can’t get a job anywhere else. Explains why only at VP after 30 years. Who would want to work here for 30 years??

No way you could be a top performer for 30 straight years unless you were part of the club of buddies. Second 30 years and all you got to was a vice President? What was wrong with your work?

The first moment they can figure out how to outsource your position, you will be gone. Until that moment, they will do everything possible to get you to quit.

Everyone had enough. People are taking time off to interview because this place is the pits. We the people are being treated like sh-t.

Toxic culture. It’s no longer a safe place to work. It’s toxic to our health and wellbeing. They want robots not people.

Isn’t putting people first a core value? They treat us less and less like people every day now. Call it a neighborhood and they’ll feel like humans! But don’t dare give them trash cans, let them eat at their desk or have any personal belongings. Not to mention add in expensive commuting and less flexibility in the name of “culture” and collaboration. The culture here is in the toilet more than ever before.

Everyone I talk to is just appalled and disappointed at the disrespect towards employees who make this bank run. The group of id--ts one down from AC (included) should be all fired for how they are treating people. I’m hoping karma does its job and kicks their behinds for causing us all stress and mental decline.

Tenure is often considered highly desirable, especially when you're recognized as an expert in your field. But not at this bank. Here, people are treated like commodities, particularly those of us in Operations. They've placed incompetent individuals in senior leadership roles solely because of their previous affiliations with other Wall Street banks The lack of meritocracy and disregard for experienced staff is disheartening.

Such true comments so many agree with. Well said!! Gone are the days of long hours in hopes it makes a difference at bonus time. Pools are always low.

I feel your pain as a 30 plus yr employee as well. I have always been upbeat and onboard about many other changes through the years, but this one is a moral kil-er! I truly believe this will be the end of USB. Just my opinion.
