Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

VOE

Would love to read some real topics brought up in the VOE surveys. I’m always at a loss as to what to say and a big part of me asks, why bother- If they really cared then our managers would be asking!? The other thought; I really need a job so why would I put my head on a chopping block!?

My voe reply was that the PEs are very important. It's a positive to have someone making us all look good. we all look golden by comparison. My PE is so... So good at helping us look amazing. She really is a team player, and a technical asset.

Shocked to read that the survey I just submitted is not anonymous. I gave them a frank assessment of the work environment at Honeywell; they can go ahead and relieve me of my duties. This place is toxic.

These surveys are never anonymous, not here or anywhere else. Always respond it's all sweetness and light, and add a personal comment saying how proud you are to work here. Tongue-kiss their butts and never let them have this survey as a reason to give you the shaft.

I’m the only one in my department with very specific responsibilities. These surveys are never anonymous and they know it’s me. That said, I’m always honest. Either they will hear me and try and improve or hear me and get rid of me. I’m happy with either outcome. I will always err on the side of honesty. If they retaliate, I’ll sue them into the ground.

I always tell them things are wonderful. That is what they want to hear. They are not going to change anything so it is a total waste of time.

@5etv
What is going to be funny is when the same one that left the negative comments does it again. Then your former manager is having to tell the uppers that he took care of the problem child but another has cropped up. Or maybe he was mistaken. Either way, it's not good for him.

My manager only had 4 reports, at least one of us gave a really negative VOE. I however knew it was not anonymous so gave a positive review without comments.
My manager thought is was me, I found out from another colleague after I got RIF'd.
5hit company, 5hit managers and even 5hittier leadership.

I answered honesty and left comments. I'm not sheep nor afraid of management. I'm out the point in my career that I really don't care what happens. I will gladly take an early retirement then complete a VOE to boost someone's ego.

“One Honeywell” slogan was misunderstood.
It came from section”U” entitled PE golden rules at the back on the project engineering academy manual.

  1. One FTE per project to do the work
  2. One product sample for development
  3. One week per deliverable
  4. One million per month revenue due

If you are a PE just remember the “one Honeywell” golden rule.
How many? One
How long? One
How much? One million…

The only thing I put in there was that I believe the company needs to actually invest time and money in what they say they’re doing to do for things like One Honeywell. There is no shortage of good ideas at this company, but lack of prioritization/commitment/execution is the problem.

Not anonymous, my manager slipped up in my review. He mentioned about me being not happy about a certain process, I only ever mentioned that on the survey and NEVER to anyone else. I denied it and he looked at me distrustfully, my relationship with him was never the same again. Look into the survey T&C and you see it is not anonymous.

@1ksn - From Dave Cote article, “we established a “One Honeywell” culture in which we focus on business acumen, listening to the customer, and doing what we say we’re going to do.”

The VOE has a link which identifies you and uses single sign on. It’s specifically questions about your manager and executive team that you report to. Why would you post anything other than the highest marks or leave any negative feedback? This always confused me that people gave negative or honest comments expecting in these surveys. This is supposed to be an ego boost for your management against their peers not a vehicle for actual change within the company. If it was completely anonymous only then would they receive honest feedback, but it’s not.

The phrase “One Honeywell” goes back to the acquisition of Honeywell by Allied-Signal. They opted to keep the Honeywell brand as it was better known and liked than Allied-Signal. It quickly became apparent that there was a lot of resistance to integration across the legacy organizations, and thus “One Honeywell” became a rallying cry from senior management. It’s stuck around because a large conglomerate like Honeywell is always acquiring, reorganizing, and recombining elements, and there’s a natural tendency to draw borders around your bit.

It’s a pretty meaningless concept, but it does tend to reflect management’s view that the people who make up the parts of Honeywell are interchangeable cogs.

Notice the company never picks what employees want. Just another forced, d-mb @ss metric for employees to 'strive ' for . Don't believe it is anonymous either.

“One Honeywell” is my number one priority. Make it yours too and you can be a futureshaper.

They put it back on the manager to fix the issue, but the issue is not at our end! It's at the top!! This is to make it appear like they care and are doing something. We are not fooled.

100% chance I will not fill it out and suggest others do the same. They don’t care and never will. It’s all about perception. This is true at any Fortune 500 company too.

Keep it to the usual topics “one HW”, “breaking down barriers”, etc. to look like a thought leader.

I was part of the teams that had to respond to these VOE comments. Basically they buy you a doughnut and a cup of coffee and tell you to get back to work.

Yeah I don't think its really anonymous. They know what group/who your manager is I think, and so it shouldn't be too hard to to identify you if you say something spicy.

Responses are not really annonymous as the links are unique. Best to remain silent if you want to keep a job. Or.. only ask for something you personally have already solved.
