Resume service provided for those displaced

Question to anyone who has been displaced - How was the resume service provided by WF? Should I wait until I'm displaced to use that service or hire someone to work on my resume sooner than later in case the services are poor/lacking quality? Thank you for any help.

Might be better off going to a local community college or library. Wouldn't want to volunteer any of my information to this organization given their continued established practices of retaliation. Imagine mentioning a job offer with an even greater bank and getting your U5 damaged along the way. Yeah that's what Wells does. They retaliate.

Mixed bag of responses, typical of this forum. To the OP, try a couple of the online suggestions to build a resume and see if it gets you any interviews.

forgot to add: LHH does contact displaced folks for up to 180 days from notice date, but if you really don't want their services, then tell them to stop contacting you. I got laid off in late 2023 and I told LHH that I needed time to rest and then reached out when I was ready for their services.

LHH will inform that networking is part of the job search strategy, but there is advice offered to those who aren't as comfortable with networking.

LHH is one of the worst consulting companies. Don't waste your time with them.

Not sure what you're referring to, because it's not Wells Fargo HR actually offering the resume service.

For displaced folks, via the severance package, there are career transition services with Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH), which is a 3rd party vendor. The services offered include a dedicated career coach, resume review (one-time review with central strategist), workshops to guide you on building LinkedIn profile, and other forums to discuss interview strategies, etc. HOWEVER, the career coach continues to work with you for up to 6 months on resume, interview, LinkedIn profile and job search strategies.

I'm using LHH now in attempt to pivot out financial services and the support is super helpful and keeps me focused on the job search. EVEN BETTER, THE BILL FOR THESE FOR THESE SERVICES GETS PINNED ON WF. I found that the retail value for a 6-month package of the LHH services was almost $8K. For those who want to switch functions, careers, this may be really helpful to have a coach and talk through how to make the career pivots.

Some people do have a cr-ppy experience with LHH so it's dependent on the LHH coach assigned to you. Can always ask to switch the LHH coach if it's not working out.

I have heard this service is a waste of time from a former WF recruiter who was laid off due to Location strategy. Her advice, use the Indeed Resume builder, one of the best out there.

I question the partnership with WF…..
just keep in mind, a lot of jobs posted on indeed, glass door, LinkedIn etc. are usually already filled. It’s a way to harvest your résumé and your inbox will be flooded!!!
And please don’t fall for any scams!

I don't trust anything wells Fargo provides. I'd rather see them run a quality business and retain workers or train them for additional roles. The idea of using a service provided to me by a dysfunctional and poorly run firm is repugnant. I would feel like I am digging my own grave.

My career counselor was pretty helpful and not aggressive. He reposts jobs on LinkedIn all the time and tried to look out. The resume re-write (someone else) was pretty good too. Keep in mind, they'll only re-write it once.

Zero help. The resume they helped re-write was terrible. My career counselor meetings were a waste of time.

I recommend getting your resume prepared before getting displaced. I also recommend starting to network on LinkedIn. In this market, getting a job is about who you know and not what you know.

the career consultant assigned to me was aggressive in scheduling meetings…and felt like 1-1s on steroids.
resume “review” is subjective , AI did a great job.
They provide free access to LinkedIn classes. Now I’m getting hounded to review the service.

I was very happy with their services. The gal who helped revamp my resume was great and I landed a new job within two months.

One word: USELESS. They try to force you into a direction you don't necessarily want to go. You can find lots of better advices by Googling it.
