Cutting Lighting price, when we already lose $36,000 on every one we sell

All I can say, it’s a good thing we delayed production of 600,000 of these boat anchors until this year (not happening this year, either), and it’s not a good thing we are spending lots of extra money to park them in lots all over the place with extra security expenses for additional “quality checks.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. What is Model e doing these days, twiddling their thumbs or selling Alexandra’s t-shirts online? They are claiming full year guidance is on track, but Q1 is likely not good.

From the Freep, which avoids bad Ford news:
“Ford has confirmed that the automaker is cutting the prices of most versions of its all-electric 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning.”

From FordAuthority:
“While Lincoln inventory finished 2023 at one of the highest levels of any automotive brand – more than double the national average, in fact – Ford F-150 Lightning inventory grew from 3,200 units in August to 13,000 at the end of December. At the same time, the average MSRP of F-150 Lightning pickups was roughly $74,000 at the end of the month and year, compared to a hefty $80,000 plus an $8,000 premium in December 2022.”

From Lightning owners:
“This means that Ford lost around $36,000 for every electric vehicle it sold in the quarter, surpassing its estimated $32,350 loss per EV in the second quarter. “

@2wwk "WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THESE EXPENSIVE MISTAKES???" Assuming you are blaming Farley for this, the CEO of a company is accountable to the board of directors, who in turn are accountable to the shareholders.

Now, unless you represent a large investment institution (I hope not, since you don't understand corporate accountability) ,or your last name is Ford - you need not be worried about this as your voice doesn't matter.

Jf is running this company into a ditch.....but like any marketing major I am sure he can use a podcast and interview with Jason Stein to deflect blame and say "hey it wasn't me, that ditch appeared out of nowhere....we have a great team at Ford to get us out of this ditch"

December 9 2021, Farley: we are closing reservations for the Lightning, we have a three year backlog

January 4 2022, Farley: we are planning to double Lightning production to 150,000 annually

All 2022: we sold 15,627 Lightnings
All 2023: we sold 24,165 Lightnings

WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THESE EXPENSIVE MISTAKES???
And why would anyone believe anything Farley says?

Ford had to cut the price on these F150 lightning to get people to buy them. No ones wants to buy these useless truck. The cones with problems, poor quality, components failing, poor fit and finish, more than likely the battery will fail or catch on fire. I don't want it.

JF & Ford made a bet on EV and lost! Well, employees lost, JF is still a millionaire.

In a town hall meeting 2 years ago, I was tempted to ask why Toyota is not all in on EV. My manager to me if I ask, my career will be over.

If JF goes, we’ll most likely get someone wore like one trick pony DF.

Ford is still running under the same management team that basically went all in on EV's, invested billions in them, and now they're trying to change course ... again. Ford is full of educated managers, but it lacks real leaders. Managment is too busy reacting to what everyone in the industry is doing else is doing to lead. As long as Ford continues operating like this nothing will change. Let's face it, the Mach-E is the only fairly unique EV Ford has. Everything else is basically an electrified version of a ICE vehicle. Nothing special there. That said, while the Cyber Truck is garbage, it's evidence of Tesla's will to pick a path and stick with it. Notice they aren't trying to build ICE vehicles? If Ford was leading the industry they would have had their own EV's long before Tesla. I can also add that there's no vision or leadership in my department. There are bosses, but no one in a leadership position with vision. It's frustrating.

I have no idea how JF is still employed. Totally crapped on and fired ICE engineers and now they have more work than they can handle so lets give it to LCC

And JF is a marketing major. He couldn’t engineer a roll of toilet paper.

if they were already losing money, cutting the price is just an attempt to clear inventory before they depreciate more. rather than profit, trying to reduce losses. a reasonable action. getting rid of ICE engineers before EV was proven... not so reasonable. dont count chickens before hatch.

Remember when 2 years ago JF tripled down on the Lightning and even stated publicly that all ICE engineers were worthless to him and we couldn’t be trained for EV engineering? So What did he do? He socialized that ideology and reported it to the media/pressers. And then JF fired them all of remaining good ICE employees there goes all of that USA talent and experience that can’t ever be replaced to Ford. What a tragedy and huge mistake. Now These young hires from LCC’s don’t care like the old school guys did. Any these young people are all woke - too afraid to speak up. What $hit show nowadays.
