If so, which positions would you recommend? I want to leave retail and need a change. Honest opinions only, please.

What do you consider safe? A 20-30 year career? There will probably always be some type of HR activity. Know a couple of people in that organization and they are busy due to the downsizing activity. There is still some hiring taking place. However as the total headcount continues to shrink they will need less people.
WTF? HR at T? I think I hear banjos Uncle Ned?
I am quite sure HR has no openings, like the rest of the conpany.
HR is a puppet for legal.
A company full of people seeking safety instead of challenges will fail in the long term.
HR has many roles at AT&T for someone who works in retail:
- If you’re good at selling up the great benefits of AT&T’s products, like Protection, you’d be great in the HR Benefits department.
- If you’re good at helping new hires onboard, you’d be great in HR Training department.
- If you’re good at spotting talented people, you might consider working in the Talent Acquisition hiring team.
- If you’re good at mediating conflicts, you’d make a great HR business partner.
Good luck. Hope you find a role.
Seems like the ones that are unhappy with HR and the ones that do little, complain a lot and are the ones more cost to being fired.
HR is the place to be to keep the malcontents under control.
HR is the furthest from contributing anything of value to the core business
@zqp+1rz1EoHZ WOW isn't that the truth! HR became disorganized after people like Santone and Kastner left the business. Lori Lee has no business running HR.
Many companies are outsourcing their back office functions. HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Sourcing.....beware.
Don’t do it. 2 words : Lori Lee.
HR is dwindling down due to AI and all
The other automated processes. Definitely not a secure position to have but these days no positing is safe and secure. Good luck!
I would say it difficult to go from retail to management unless you have experience in the area plus a college degree. But if you know someone in HR and meet the qualifications, you might have a shot. In my org, I’ve only seen one person jump from retail to a Sourcing manager role. She knew someone higher up, we passed over very qualified managers who were already in my org and applying for the same job. Believe me, I worked with this person after hiring and she had zero knowledge needed for the job. Again, majority of the time, it’s who you know.
nph+1rz1EoHZ describes the whole company culture in this statement. Doesn't realize the irony. Amazing.
Def the place to be if you are a black tra nsy confused pronoun
HR is where careers and futures go to die.
HR is full of soulless individuals that do nothing all day except tell everyone no. The only time they will actually do any work is if it means getting out of doing more work. They are the by far the worst part of this company .
HR is an extremely difficult department to get in to if you don't already know someone in there. Most positions are filled based on referral.
