Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoffs next week 3/18

So I've been told that every 3rd full week of the month, there are going to be layoffs - that's next week. Anyone know that they're to be out? My management tells us nothing.

You will most likely receive an email for a meeting or to contact HR, if it’s happening to you. Good luck, nobody is safe, to quote a phrase, we (below c-suite) are all in it together and just waiting for that day or not. Beyond your control so, be prepared and try not to think about it unless it happens, it’s only way to remain sane around here.

“…because if you quit, or deny to move because your titles are “centralized” WTF ever that means - you’re not eligible for severance payout…”

This is incorrect.

Under the terms of the current management plan, you are eligible for severance if your position is moved. This has been covered to death.

They “could” change this at some point, and it would surprise no one…but they haven’t yet.

If you refuse to move and notify the company within the allotted time, you will get severance. If you say yes I’ll move and don’t on the day you’re supposed to be there, you will not get severance. I wish folks would stop spreading lies.

March 21 is the next slated date for management layoffs. Does not mean it will happen, but if it does that’s the date. HR has slated for Thursday the third full week of each month as a layoff day for management.

We haven’t heard anything about the specific layoff dates or the amount affected. However, there’s been a whole lot of changes in our titles and roles. Rumor has it that the changes have a lot to do with “title elimination” or “your position has been eliminated” or your position or title is centralized in Dallas & Atlanta - so you’ll have to move if you want to keep your job. I think it’s just another tactic to lay people off (to make people quit!) without severance because if you quit, or deny to move because your titles are “centralized” WTF ever that means - you’re not eligible for severance payout. Burn in he-L for those that decided or came up with the idea for this “policy” to be implemented. Trust me, karma works.
