Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

65 older folks were asked to retire this past week. Thus we lost many years of tribal knowledge.

During my last 3 years at Clifton, I had no less than 7 managers. All of them hired from outside the industry. And, even thought I was still under 60 years of age, EVERY one of them made it a point to ask me if I was going to retire soon. I was not alone. There was a very noticeable effort to push out older employees. New hires were no longer required to pass a proficiency test. Everyone who attended the class, pass or fail, was hired. We were forced to "d-mb down" process books to a series of color pictures depicting how to hold tools. This was done to accommodate new hires that could not read English. I'm not kidding. If you're from Clifton and reading this, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Eventually, I reached an age and income where I was able to retire at a time of my choosing, and take a part time job as a well paid consultant for a competing company. Now, my years of experience is making money for someone else. Booyah.

Over 45? Start packing. Removal of older employees and offshoring to foreign sweatshops are the norm now.

I think most companies practice age discrimination. They tell recruiters that they don't discriminate based on age, so the recruiters contact you, get your resume, then after emails, interviews, etc. you get "ghosted" mostly (no follow-up no replies just no communication) or they say "you are not a good fit.".

L3 Harris practices age discrimination with impunity. is that true with all government contractors? maybe a class action is in order here.

I was wondering if it was a "voluntary" retirement or not. Does anyone know if they were offered any incentives to retire?

Would really like to know if my name is on a list somewhere. My other half was laid off, am I next? I have a family to worry about.

Everyone was saying RIF confirmed, probably the 20th because of pay cycles. No word on positions.

Anyone have predictions or information on when the next RIF is? And which positions?
