Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Conflating Location strategy with Efficiency Strategy is Asinine

All communications about Location strategy from upper management have been geared towards preparing employees for how they'd be impacted.

Communications have been quite tasteful and considerate.

Unfortunately, many people on this site are too paranoid to see any goodness in the said communications.

Give yourselves a break and chill for your own good.

Why is it that executives like Heather Hodge can relocate from Portland to Chandler, AZ but others from the same site are not allowed. Have to repost for positions. So unfair in what they allow. The “executives” do nothing. Wells Fargo is so far from thinking about its employees. They could care less. Leaders grow some bxxxs and speak up.

My favorite part is medical exceptions are invalid. Have a documented medical accomodation? Doesn't matter. They know it's probably illegal and don't care.

@1sly+1rwZOKvW:

They're so disconnected from the reality of U.S. workers' experience, I don't think they care.

If they were to answer the question "given everything, why would anyone choose to work for Wells Fargo?"

Answer: Well, for those who survive the initial annual tsunami of layoffs and the subsequent waves of reorgs, layoffs and narcissistic abuse...we have stale cookies for you once a week and cheap office coffee. Come cheer us on at the next Town Hall!"

I agree OP "Thank you for sending design jobs, product management jobs and even strategy jobs offshore and calling out that offshore is role model for stateside folks."
I guess they will have the Indian manager worker guess what the American customer wants and needs.
There hasn't been enough review of the offshoring effort. I don't think the American customer is going to fit into the Indian digital banking experience very well.
I suggest to all to open up the https://www.wellsfargojobs.com/ page and filter on the country India. There you will see all of these jobs. Looks like some of those jobs will start replacing the RCSA with the Archer, GRC framework.
Anyway, imagine an Indian, currently struggling to find his potable water for the day, going to work. The office is beautiful... getting there is not. I wonder if they wfh in India. Regardless they get into the office and fantasize what an American customer needs.
This is not going to end well. Even providing them with all the American built tools.

Well it was amply made clear locations in India that would be a part of the strategy. So yes of course offshoring is the only glaring callout. A communication that says “whatever roles can be done offshore will be sent offshore.”

Thank you for sending design jobs, product management jobs and even strategy jobs offshore and calling out that offshore is role model for stateside folks.

Yes you will lose out a bunch of folks who would not want to be the slaves of Indian management who lack empathy even for their own teams.

Of course they can be efficient. But ultimately that serves whom?

This is year No. 6 of the relocation strategy. What happens when you drag out a strategy too long without clear and transparent communications?

The result is a changing strategy fueled be vagueness, guessing/rumors and a severe drop in morale. A large workforce is trapped. Career advancement or job opportunities below upper management are nil. No incentives to stay while also being understandably fearful of leaving (too many variables to list here on why the solution isn't always to simply quit).

There is zero class and professionalism in leadership at WF. When DK was at the helm, even if unrealistic to think, at very least there was an effort to run the bank on their terms, not marry up with the investment bank turn and burn aesthetic.

Now our depth goes as far as a logo on a webpage that happens to be publicly traded.

I ask leadership this question: Given everything, why should anyone choose to work for Wells Fargo?
