Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

No more work after hours - let's do it... I started doing it

Today, I there was a major incident at 4:40 PM. I was one of the key person looking at it. I graciously logged off because I need to catch train and it takes approx 2 hours to reach home. I handed over to my manager to check. If I was home, I was more than happy to spend time. I guess this is the way to do it.

I have to spend 3.25 hours a day to travel. Additional travelling expense. No team member to collaborate. What is the use. Total bullsh-t idea.

We are waiting in my area for direction on RTO, like many on this thread, anticipating productivity impacts. It is looking bleak, but I am trying to stay positive.

@fkf+1rqrAo7M sure could've fooled me.... based upon what these posts are about. It's called at will work. If you dont like it, leave. YOU ARE A NUMBER THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT. EVEN YOURSELF. Otherwise, you wouldn't waste your time complaining and doing something about it.

Please don’t waste time putting on makeup to visit the office. It scares me. You look amazing without it!

It’s maddening isn’t it?! I earned top performance two years in a row. I have team members in 10 time zones. Sometimes my meetings start at 5:30 am and often late in day like 6 pm for the end. I do try to take a break or two mid-day.

How the f#&@ am I supposed to force an obligatory office visit in the middle of all that just to “check a box.”

My manager called me couple of times today (Saturday). Looks like some change wasn't deployed correctly. I didn't pick up as I was exhausted after commuting for several hours on weekdays and can't tolerate further more. I just need time away from work. So manager don't bother calling me. I won't pick up.

Laptop open, personal cell answered all calls. Even middle of the night calls when not on call. Day started at 6am until 6pm. No more. They pay for 7:30am - 4pm sharp.

Just a hint, guessing most of you don’t have a company paid cell phone. Take TEAMS and email off your personal device and become less available immediately.

As soon as I started my 3 days the logging on before 8 and stopping after 5 immediately stopped, even on wfh days. When we were remote I started at 7 and never really logged off or had a quitting time. No mas.

Commute is easy 3 + hours round trip especially with city traffic. No thanks. I left that behind long ago. I don’t make enough money to be a uber driver and bank worker.

Half the people in my department had over a 3 hours total commute before remote. Now they will be back to waking up at 5 am to put on their makeup, drive to the train station, take a 1 :30 hours train ride to be greeted by random dr-g addicted zombies in Downtown

Not only is it a 3 hour commute, it's uphill in the snow. Thank the heavens this company slave has seen the light and will now never have to work 25 hour days or weekends again like they were doing all the time in appreciation for remote work.

Where in the heck do you live that commute times are over 3 hours?? Tell me that’s round trip? Did you move on the assumption that you were going to WFH and not ever go back in?

My manager called me today morning at 7:30 am ish to look into an urgent escalation that needs attention. I politely told that I was stuck in travel and those days are gone when you used to call me late evening or early mornings to check. I want to help but due to commute it is no longer possible... sorry boss, I am going to office just to sit myself all day along. I still have to meet people over teams only... What a mess

Productivity will go down right along with morale. Who the he-l wants to deal with a commute, extra expenses and loss of flexibility all to sit in an office with no one you work with. Job market is good. Bye bye

@nsn+1rqrAo7M

OP's point was that the unreasonable RTO policy in his/her case has led to less time being available to go the extra mile than there otherwise would have been. If the commute is 3.25 hrs per day, and teammates are in other locations, forcing RTO is unreasonable and is costing the bank in lost productivity, severely inconveniencing OP.

Not everyone wants to give less effort, they just don’t want their effort to wasted on 1.5-2.5 hours of commuting time.

I’m confused? So paid the same with less effort? What’s there to complain about?

I log off as soon as I hit my 8 hours. No more staying online to finish something or volunteer for projects or logging in on the weekends.
No more.
