Location tracking

Commercial bank moved to four days a week recently, does anyone know how your location is tracked? For example, would you get dinged if swiped in and then just worked from home the rest of the day? I know they’re tracking badge swipes but would you still be okay if you swiped in and continued working from home?

The "game" is all coming from Hudson Yards. There was a time, not long ago, when all people cared about was work, and doing it well. Now we waste all our time talking about the work we do to justify our existance--rather than actually working, figuring out how to navigate the stupidity from on high, burning PTO to avoid wasting our lives in our cars, and all manner of other things of minimal value. This business will never recover until employees care enough to go the extra mile to best the competition. That will never, ever, happen with CS in charge. His failed leadership has su-ked the soul and aspirations for greatness out of the workers.

Imagine when remote workers are forced to relocate across country only to find out we need to be in the office for 10 min a day 3 days a week. Another well thought out plan WF.

They are really just trying to find reasons to get rid of the d-mbest people who don’t go to the office at all. They could probably care less about how long you’re there.

Anyone that swipes and leaves and goes back home to work…that all can be tracked. Not smart.

"Is there more they can do and may do in the future?"

Do they really need to do anything more? Their current strategy costs nothing and seems to needlessly take up real estate in many people's heads after a town hall or cryptic enterprise announcement. If the WFC sheeple cull themselves at >0% because some fool indicated "it's time to get real with days-in or location strategy," then planting the neuroses and letting it blossom was a costless yet yield-y activity. No need to change anything until the sheeple call their bluff with significance.

There is no stated policy for how much time that we have to be in office. Just that we either have to be there or have PTO an average of three times per week. For PTO to count it has to be at least 4 hours, but OT exempt employees are only supposed to use either 4 or 8 hours PTO on a given day anyway, so that is more enforcement of the PTO policy. We know from collective experience that a badge swipe and/or any amount of time connected to the network counts as an in-office day. We know you can get this at any WFC location that you have been granted access to, and that they contract if you go to a location other than your assigned one more than 50%, but have not created any policies around this yet.

People say, “do so at your own risk,” but they are not going to fire anyone as long as they are squared with the current policy. If they want to correct or fire people for not coming in the whole day, they will make it a policy and announce it as such first. Until then, as long as your average on the dashboard continues to show up at >=3.0, you are fine.

people act as if the company doesn't know people are gaming the system. Is there more they can do and may do in the future? Yes. Are they doing it now? No. Do what you want, but know the risk you're taking in doing it.

My location doesn't badge out, only in

I basically come in, meet someone for coffee, head home while taking a standing call with India, and then start the day for real at home.

And it's no secret, for all the Tyler Durham scaredy cats out there. All kinds of open parking spots by 2pm at my location - everyone has bailed hours earlier or is getting ready to be home for school buses

It means whether or not you're showing up to your assigned location or showing up at a different WFC location

Also a manager in CIB, previous manager post correct. If there is a suspected issue, they can do IP but we’ve only had to do that a few times. Basically just badge swipes. No time limit, we even asked HR a few years ago when we had to RTO. They didn’t even know.

You want the transparency so you can figure out how to game the system. That is why it is not transparent.

In a response to what the manager said, what do you mean by “in a location other than your own” does that mean it tracks if you’re home more than half the time? Or if you’re at another location? I just wish there was more transparency in how it’s being tracked.

I am a manager who reviews the report. All the report shows is whether you were in office, on PTO or neither, along with the calculation of the average days per week in the office and an indicator if you're spending >50% of your days in another location than your own.

It does not show hours in office.

Some locations don't have badging at all and it's tracked by connection to the network from a WF location.

Unless you’re a manager nobody knows how they’re tracking. It could be badge swipes, could be min time in office, could also be VPN. If u go swipe in and out then show on VPN rest of day you could get called out.

OP, your sunglasses and mustache disguise just fell off. No one would badge in and leave immediately, come on. Now let's see who OP is....HR trolling.
