Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Half my team has been terminated for "Fraud"

I won't mention what part of the country I live in, but I am in a mobility sales role and over the past few months, seven of the 14 people on my team have been brought in for questioning concerning things done on accounts they have worked in the past. Asset Protection requested one on one meetings with each of these people and they spent hours interrogating them on zero use lines, dummy IMEIs and etc. Three of these guys were 15+ year T employees with steller records and NONE of them would commit fraud. I'm worried I will be next. What the heck is going on here?

The next step was the rack.

“ They were interrogated under a 120watt light bulb. Next would be waterboarding. Wait your turn. Look out for the blue rubber gloves!”

There was a whole team including the manager who got caught, they funny enough (they meaning the manager) had joked around and they knew that they were getting fired. There is a lot of AVPs being looked at because they knew about that but they never said anything about it.

"I’m going to say 100% of employees in T retail stores commit fraud."

And you would be right. Some are more than others, and I know many struggle with it, but the management pushes them relentlessly. I've personally witnessed RSCs getting fired for simply refusing to adapt dishonest sales techniques. And with that said, I'm not going to elaborate on how I survived in AT&T retail for several years. You can guess.

I have over 25 years service, so the policies and rules only count when they need to apply them against you. That’s why it’s imperative to get proof via email or text from your manager if they want you to deviate from the company policies. I’ve told managers many times to send me an email or text with specifics, guess what they won’t so, I won’t do what they ask or imply outside the rules or policies. I’ve told many, it’s not your XYZ company but AT&T and I’m following the policies until I have documented proof to do otherwise, End of story!

Business mobility ( not retail) is absolutely full of this activity. The quotas simply cannot be achieved without it. Directors and Sakes Managers simply have plausible deniability by looking the other way. Get the numbers by any means necessary.

Not retail but our VP puts down the female boss and manages by favoritism. It’s not what you get done but if the brass knows you, likes you. And most likely it’s bc who they like is spinning a tale for them about how good everything is. Honesty doesn’t pay at T…. If you say something isn’t working and it’s something the company already sunk millions (like bad systems) you will be retaliated against.

If you want your paycheck, just “turn the other cheek” calling out what’s wrong will get you gone. Sad but true. Thumbs up if you agree.

I don't work in retail. I am in corporate sales and on the BAT team. This has been happening since last summer.

You will be next. The reason is because AT&T is a Ponzi scheme. AT&T overcharges customers so much that when you talk to them, you see the ridiculous costs. You offer to lower their bill but in return they buy something from you. That’s what your peers have done and that’s what you do.

I log into the activations system using others' User account & turn on phones for friends, family & dates. Sometimes I give out accessories & just act d-mb claim must be walk in theft. My store is a joke. Boss opens up, leaves, returns & is probably out 50% of the time.
