Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

RTO or not to RTO?

I’ve heard rumors of softening RTO now after a failed rollout, but also that managers are starting “RTO conversation with employees training”?

I've worked at multiple companies that have tried to offshore beyond just staff aug. It has NEVER worked. For a $100k, a 23yo from McKinsey will show you a deck that claims it does, but they don't mention the rework and massive uptick in P1 and P2's which in the long run ends up costing more (especially in reputation).

All tech jobs are going to India. We will only see more layoffs in tech and digital.

"I have been with the bank for around 7 years, in the last week I’ve learned through the grape vine that they’re hiring tons of tech workers from India on the “IT” side of the bank"

This is not new, they've been doing this for a long time now.

"That didn’t work, so now it’s USBank culture to be in office"

Which is particularly disingenuous because it's always been U.S. Bank culture to be liberal with remote when it makes sense, focus on the end goal while being creative with how we get there, and not doing one-size-fits-all things just because everyone else is doing them.

This is the opposite of any recognizable U.S. Bank culture.

Does it say promotion only for people in office? I have to read faq again.

Yea, data security is a scam because they outsource data oversea with all the foreigners handling confidential data. So they changed from data security to team work. That didn’t work, so now it’s USBank culture to be in office

I have been with the bank for around 7 years, in the last week I’ve learned through the grape vine that they’re hiring tons of tech workers from India on the “IT” side of the bank, and also that on the RTO FAQ page it says promotions will be given primarily to those in office???

Can anyone confirm or deny any of this? Seriously, someone also told me that the India team had a task to “complete a Python tutorial” as I was told while passing in the hallway today. How are we forcing people to RTO with data integrity and security as a key reason, yet outsourcing coding + others to Indian remote teams? Answer: excuse for incoming tech layoffs
