Why would anyone from Big Tech come to CVX?...The stock options are garbage. 10 years from now, they will be worth less, not more...

GM does not have any expertise in IT, they are a sub par car company. We attract the wrong IT talent as always. Just like that external hire EN we made Chief Data Officer...

Hire externally and think internal CVX IT will suddenly "Hit Refresh"?... This isn't MSFT, this is a dinosaur oil company. Everyone 15+years spends more time looking at the value of their pension grow than actually deliver value.

Expect him to do another BCG/Accenture reImagineIT assessment, do mass LT hires, do a complete reorg including mass offshoring of IC jobs, and than leave within 5 years to a better job somewhere else claiming he "turned CVX IT around". We will do this again 3 years later. Different faces, same Sh...IT

@4fbj+ - absolutly.

There is so much scope for external hires coming in and cleaning up the cesspit of cronyism and deadwood who are practically retired in place (RIP).

Across all functions.

LC is a good hire and a nice guy too. He will help Chevron grow in the IT space the way MW wants to see it happen. Don’t think the execs didn’t know how many feathers would be ruffled by hiring externally. And BB, he never knew that train was coming right at him.

It's a good hire, he was respected at GM. Chevron IT needs fresh perspective, and we definitely don't need a FANG type executive with zero manufacturing experience.

LOL! A CIO becoming CEO of an oil company.

Hmm... resume lists General Motors, Hewlett Packard, and Dell as most recent posts. Hardly Google - Amazon - Apple material. Also, lots of 2-3 year assignments - Sounds like he's adept at jumping off sinking ships, like our vaunted high-pots. You think, with a couple years of Chevron-izing, he has an outside chance of squeezing out the ultra-dull EB for CEO?
