Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Goal Setting Starts Today

Can't recall a time WF helped employees achieve anything. Sadly the goals are of company preference, not based on reality or an individual's talent or interests. Even more sad is the goals are arbitrary, based on the whims of today's mgmt.

And to wipe the last tears of sadness on this topic, there is zero accountability on goals. Neither manager nor employee have any time or incentive to manage the goals. We all know most everyone will get rubber stamped a MEETS w/ a meager raise.

Goals need to offer explicit incentives, such as "Reach this level of efficiency on X and this how we will monetarily reward you", "gain extra PTO for obtaining this metric", etc.

Garbage in, garbage out Wells Fargo.

Personal goals. Heck in tech the managers aren't "personal". They are facilitators... that's it. If you need something then you ask them -- that's it. This place is not managed. It just goes from crisis to crisis. The asset cap imposed since 2018 is still there. Does that mean Wells still doesn't do loan modifications correctly?
Working at Wells is like p..s..ng into the wind.... Your manager is there telling you which way the wind is blowing.

Important for each person to sign up for critical priorities this year ..critical for managers to make employees more accountable to drive empowerment..funding for projects are pretty much locked for the year so folks have a good idea what are the possible stretch option ..

I always hated this phony corporate make work effort that meant absolutely nothing to anyone. Not WF, not my manager, not my managers manager, not myself, none of the named had any benefit derived from all of the work involved in this totally useless effort that was nothing more than corporate window dressing.

So glad retiring ended this hated corporate sham process. Would love to have access to the CEO goals, just for the laughs.

Good luck to all!

These goals are nonsense and a waste of time.

Vast majority of us will get a 'Meets', even most of those who deserved better.

My only real goal is to get out of this company.

My goal would be for employees to help clients move to other firms. That requires illustrating that Wells Fargo has harmed untold numbers of clients and still has the asset cap, consent decrees and unions. Any advisor working for this dung heap doesn't care about their clients. So..explain to clients why they need a different firm.

Goal for US employees, "Wipe them out. All of them."

To be honest, I’m glad it’s now just an arbitrary check box dictated down. For the majority of us, there’s no incentive to do great vs good. Stack ranking has skewed true performance assessment. In the years past when we were “allowed” to help our team determine goals, it was another farce of trying to your desired goal into already pre-determined by execs - so basically pointless.

I’m pretty much dead inside for WF (lol) so anything that lessons my effort required to give WF is appreciated!

@bzd+1r2iDHiO It's a fair point. Say less, be more vague.

Let’s be honest, goal time only ever hurts people. If you commit to something and other priorities get in the way then they have a way to give you a lower than. Usually even if you exceed your goals then you still get a meets. Be careful what you put in there.
