Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Get Fargo? Is this the worst ad yet?

Caught a WF ad recently with the tagline "Get Fargo". Even at the end of the ad it showed the WF logo with simply 'Fargo' next to it.

What kind of a branding scheme is this? If you wanted to toy with shortening things up, not that it's a great idea, Wells or WF is used commonly. Maybe go the Kentucky Fried Chicken route and reduce to WF and be done with it.

Fargo is great movie (never seen the TV series) with an infamous woodchipper scene.

That is where this ad needs to go.

Marketing was mediocre under JM, but now it’s just plain stupid.

Lead the WELL life? WTF is that? It’s not even English.

Get Fargo would be okay if everyone knew what Fargo actually was. They don’t, but don’t try to tell marketing that. They are the experts. If you don’t get it it means you are stupid, not the ad.

And then there’s Wello. They actually think that’s clever creative. Which does explain a lot.

The best part of the Discover ad is that shot across every other bank's bow by promising US-based customer service. Discover are betting that simple distinction is going to get them more customers because they know US-based customers aren't enjoying the overseas support experience.

@1dun+1r1ewceh Comparing Discover to Wells Fargo ads clarifies the difference in how each bank approaches the customer. Among all the AI-generated ads during the super bowl Discover was the plainest -- and that was the intent. Not to give control to a robot. Wells Fargo wants you to give control to get F...goed. Just as it is giving control to the offshore endeavor.
So what should your goals be? Not to get Fargoed? Not to get offshored?

Fargo is the ai assistant in WF online banking. Clearly the team who worked on it lacked creativity.

Interesting comparing WF to Discover. In the Discover super bowl ad
"showing just how much she begrudges those dreaded customer service robots in a way only Jennifer Coolidge could.

“The bane of my existence is the battle with the robots,” Coolidge tells “I can’t handle it. It’s because I have no control. You have no control when you get in with the robot.” In fact, she adds, “Why can’t we just have a human being in the first place? I really don’t want to be turned over to the robot. I don’t want the robot — I actually don’t want the robot at all.” https://www.today.com/popculture/jennifer-coolidge-discover-super-bowl-commercial-rcna137278

Interesting to compare Fargo ads versus Discover ads.

Little bit too close to "get F'd", but 'Well Life' makes it look a little better by comparison I guess. Marketing is horrendous here.

Logo should be legs sticking out of a wood chipper.
