I am hearing some folks are having their jobs eliminated but instead of giving them a RIFF document with severance rules, they are instead moving them to another department at a lower grade and salary.
My question is this legal to do without any written documenation and/or approval by the employee.
It is said that unless your salary drops below 20%, you do not get a package in this instance.
It seems to me that you have to at least sign some approval or acceptance of a transfer. Otherwise this is a quick way to restructure people at lower pay without the cost impact of a RIFF.
Please let me know if the above is a new tactic instead of RIFF.
