Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

RIF 2024, Its Happening!!!!

The second wave of the RIF for anthem has started! 20% of the labor force to be cut by the first week of March! All meetings will start this month. People leaders will have the choice of selecting who is to go. The last time it was by seniority to avoid lawsuits. This time the people leaders will select the employees. At the same time the restructuring of teams and titles will commence. Some will get severance packages others will not. Others will receive offers for other roles. In addition two more RIF's are scheduled for 2024. These last two will be market specific. It has nothing to do with performance and all to do with margins. It has been determined that the company productivity and performance increases after each RIF. Anthem has mastered managing by fear! Happy 2024 and praying that you are not affected and those that are get at least a package. Will continue to update!

This sounds made up. How would they get away without paying severance? Stop scaring people.

You must be an hourly employee. I suggest you find an employer that is not publicly traded and aligns with your socialist mindset.

When you work for someone else, you do as your boss instructs you to do, regardless if you agree with it or not.

@fpi+1quqlVHp. It was super clear that people 50+ were targeted for the 2023 RIFs. Everyone knows this. However if you actually do have some not-fake insights please share -- how did YOU decide who was put on the chopping block, handed a miserable holiday, and needed to start job hunting at the worst possible time of year? If you are in fact a 'people leader' -- Feeling real good about yourself are you? Proud of doing the dirty work for people who make 10s of millions of dollars each year so others are left in desperate situations?

Some of this is pure fake news. The earlier RIFs had nothing to do with seniority, with that being said, what else was false?

I’m a people leader and in some departments we did select who was cut. This Rif will be no different.

Stop being reckless please.

This is an amazing group and we can learn a lot from each other . really good advice here Update workday with your personal email information. Make sure you get check advices sent to you. I haven't received any. I had to call and ask . Then come to find out they overpaid my PTO payout ( paid twice on a separate check) and reversed it 4 days
later before I could figure out was going on.
So Pay close attention. Send back the entire package. The HRSupport is a randomly monitored inbox, no rhyme or reason, getting the same person I can try to answer any questions you may have as I experienced the BS first hand. Blessings

I’m a people leader and I was not approached to choose anyone who would be RIF’d. That may be true for some, but it’s not true for all.

People leaders selected the associates to be let go in prior reductions. I know this because I am a people leader and did so in September.

Does the 20% reduction include those lost in previous rounds, or do you mean 20% in 2024 rounds?

The poster says RIFs have already begun. Has anyone recieved notice of being ROFed? Or, is this post just a warning of RIFs to come?

Whole Health and Health Equity are too similar, they are choosing by market which one to keep. Operations is getting realigned. They flatten Ops every few years, then load the leaders with more staff because it’s not sustainable. Marketing will see cuts because after COVID the community footprint changed. Really they should be more transparent with what’s happening within the company and be better with overall communication. These are lives we are talking about.

It boggles my mind why ELV leadership is choosing the most stressful path for associates. And it boggles my mind that hard working rank-and-file associates have to pay for (1) Leadership blunders, and (2) Leadership multi-million bonuses.

YIkes! Good luck to all. To all who might be impacted: PREPARE - start networking now!
Put your resume and contact list on another device! BE READY TO HAVE YOUR ACCESS CUT OFF IMMEDIATELY! To all impacted: Double check and stay on top of your paperwork each step of the way. Associates last October experienced delays or missed steps in the process -- IT/HR wasn't able to keep up with it all, unfortunately. This meant delays in receiving the severance.

Can you share areas of the company that will likely be affected?
