I see The Stink's minions are fearmongering.
At the end of the day, union employees will be safe.
They're still back-filling union jobs.
“ If T chooses to reduce headcount they'll need to do it according to the contracts in each region.”
Lol, this has to be the either the funniest or most ignorant post of the 2024 so far, I can’t decide.
“ If T chooses to reduce headcount they'll need to do it according to the contracts in each region. ”
If you believe that, we’ve got. Bridge to sell you. T is in control, the union has lost ALL leverage. Contractors will rule the blue collar workforce at T . Look at the contractor and vendor jobs being shifted, the writing is on the wall if you can read. Enjoy the remaining time in your contracts because that will be the end.
T will wait for YOUR contract to expire.
Then they will NOT seriously negotiate new terms forcing the union to take a stand.
The employees will walk because they watched UAW do the same, T will lock the door behind you and backfill with 1st level hourly management and contractors.
No need to layoff, buyout or pay severance.
Ok, just watch what happens.
If T chooses to reduce headcount they'll need to do it according to the contracts in each region. Violating the contract means all the techs will be back on the payroll with backpay. It's really that simple.
“ AT&T West continues to backfill jobs with permanent CWA or IBEW member jobs.”
Ok, just watch what happens. Union contracts are worth about the same ad the paper written on. T ALWAYS has an out. Keep living the fairytale, it will absolutely catch you off guard.
The proposed language in the “buyout “ is 2-2-2.
That just proves you have no idea how surpluses work. There is no national buyout language. Each district has their own contract and the language differs in regards to surpluses.
How can this possibly be true when T is still hiring craft personnel in the west to back fill positions?
It's not true. Just trolls spreading lies. AT&T West continues to backfill jobs with permanent CWA or IBEW member jobs.
How can this possibly be true when T is still hiring craft personnel in the west to back fill positions? The only time work goes to a contractor is when there is absolutely no T technician available to do the work. The work isn't just given to contractors because T is trying to get rid of technicians, there has to be a reason.
Craft employees don’t possess any unique skills which is why the company continues to shift work year after year to contractors.
“So what you're saying is craft will be getting contractual buyouts and severance soon?”
That is exactly what will happen. The proposed language in the “buyout “ is 2-2-2. There is no variable to the number. If the number of refusals isn’t adequate, geo location changes will occur to job titles to force attrition. So yeah, you can celebrate I guess.
Who in their right mind would relocate for T? Yikes. Years ago when close to retirement and primary breadwinner... perhaps.
Union jobs at T will be less than 10% of the total by 2026.
So what you're saying is craft will be getting contractual buyouts and severance soon?
Nice!
Show me the money and I'm out the door!
Union jobs at T will be less than 10% of the total by 2026.
Better than to 50% reduction in managers.
Relocated - Rebadged - Dumped after four years- true story
Since you're gone you won't mind giving us your UUID, department, and people who worked with.
Union jobs at T will be less than 10% of the total by 2026.
Yup. Thats why if/when I am tapped to relocate, the answer is no, give me my money.
Need to update your skills.
Needs of the business.
Many many companies (including my international company) is laying off. My company is laying off 15% of it's employees.
