Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

2024 job outlook

In 2024 in some way or another you will be downgraded, surplussed, laid off or somehow required to do more work for less money while The Stench and his minions get more money for doing even less work. So ultimately you might as well simply do the minimal work putting in the least amount of time and effort while planning your post T life. Just hang out at work until you get the termination package. A year from now you most likely will be doing something different. Best of luck.

Decisions on who to keep and who to cut will be up to VP who will choose favorites.
Ratings are down via likability not results therefore VPs can sustain their lies about who is good bc they dictate how to rate or change ratings. Execs not close enough to know who really is getting the job done and who is taking credit for other people’s work.
Systems people claim credit for reductions when theres no correlation. Automation is what they say is happening but it’s minimal — just fancy powepoints to execs who believe and don’t dig deep to see.
Accenture is the big winner as they get all the money to do the work that internal people claim they do.
No one paying attention at higher level - just listening to the spin to protect the favored.
Company / execs need better way to get closer to who is actually delivering real results and who is selling fluff.

I get plenty of healthy fiber in my diet so I try my best to avoid touching Toxic fiber which reeks of The Stench.

If you don’t put your hands on the fiber , you’re toast. Apply for those jobs before it’s too late.

I'm out of here in several months with or without a termination package. I've completely lost my passion to perform my job at the high level I used to do it. The culture at T has completely su-ked the life out of me and has depleted me of any inspiring outlook! The headcount needs to be reduced to around 100k and currently there are around 158k. It doesn't look good!

That's why so many of us just want to get laid off while we still have a nice termination package in our contract.

SSDD. I’ve been here 15 years now. First few years it was good, then bam, all the good VPs left and it’s been a constant string of new bosses annually. Needless to say, it has gotten worse every year since. I don’t even know how that’s possible, but every year, re-org and worse than before. As for more work, yeah, slammed beyond belief. Used to be 9-5 M-F, now we work nights, weekends, never get lunch. Just constant. That being said, this is the year I’m planning on leaving. Been applying to many jobs and getting a few interviews. Just fyi, every single one of those jobs are offering 20-30% more than I make now.

Need to downgrade some of my lazy coworkers that do more complaining than work.

You have two choices :

  1. Find a compnay that actually has a future and can provide stability
  2. Keep playing the piano on the Titanic

The compnay is seriously ill, it won’t survive in current state. Many more layoffs and sell off of business units will leave it little more than a sliver of what you have known it to be. 2024 will be a turbulent year for employees and customers, it will start and end with the complete dismantling of the company as we know it. Leave with dignity and find a new career.
