I will work rings around anybody below 45 doing devops stuff any day.
My work group is filled with Millennials and let me tell you, they have ZERO work ethic. If they would just spend half the time working that they spend playing on their phones.
"If you are 45+ working for this company, you should really te think your future. T is headed somewhere you can’t."
And I"m OK with that. With all your millennial know how, get the stock up over 30$, and cut me loose, or simply just lay me off. I could care less. You'll eventually realize it's not the rank and file employee, it's the leadership. And once you realized you're a complete shill running a fools errand, well, .. .. there's always rehab.
Funniest post in a while. Uneducated, unmotivated, and unreliable zoomer doesn't even know what a "boomer" is :-)
troublemakers are the first to go
This OP is the dooshliest of all bags.
Hey @5gto+, lighten up Francis. Maybe some English lessons will help.?
You're really that stupid, eh?
To @5gto+1qe1WZJF. Yes, maybe gone in two years as you say. But with a large 401k and cash pension. What will you get when you are let go in two years, whipper snapper? No much..too bad, so sad…NOT
You, you, you, you lazy whippersnapper Gen X’n Millennial, this here boomer can still connect a pots line and find buried drop with my trusty shovel. Get paid pretty good too.
Very funny. You tried be a comedian with an audience of only one, yourself.
Also very true is that you will be gone within the next 2 years. Sorry, this is AT&T.
Millennial here. Those Gen Xers you call boomers are some of the smartest and most hardworking people I had ever met. I also watched the company age discriminate and cut them down despite all of their achievements and commitments to the company.
You think that's motivating? No, it's fu--ing depressing.
The only saving grace is every single one of them got more cushy jobs elsewhere, with one now earning twice as much at Amazon.
Don't let this dogshit company make you feel like you're worthless.
45 is Gen X, dummy.

Let me tell you something sn0tty nosed kid! Anything you can do, this Gen X jackhammer can do 10x better. Guaranteed fact jack!
If by "Boomer" you are referring to Stankey and DesRoches, then you are right.
For the millionth time. MR75 means nothing now.
Maybe not for thee, but for me it matters greatly. Health insurance in retirement, bump in lump sum pension payout. It all depends on when and which company you were hired by. Legacy SWBT, pre 1999 hires have a pretty good incentive to reach MR75.
Again for the millionth time, and a little louder so those in the back can hear; Just because you don't have it doesn't mean mine is no good.
Too d@mn bad if you don't like the fact that I'm still working at T and heading into 70 years of age! I'll work as long as I want especially if I can still perform the job at a high level. I'm not responsible for making room for fresh out of high school kids or fresh out of college with no job prospects. I'm not your Daddy and don't really care about your job prospects. I like the money, the job is easy and retirement is over-rated, so why not work!
45 is Gen X, not Boomers, you mo--n.
Which Culture… like just generally? or are you suggesting anyone age 45+ is ruining AT&T culture? Because it has been ruined since we were in our late 20’s.. lol. Everybody complains the same dang thing, the older generation won’t retire.. blah blah, we did then, you are doing now… people always complain because that have no idea what it is like to be in the shoes they are complaining about… The people aren’t making this a toxic work place, it leadership pitting everyone against each other.
For the millionth time. MR75 means nothing now.
Hey OP, 2 words for you.
Participation Trophy
@"I got the boot at 62."
Bad move taking SS @62 unless you don't have longevity in your family.
With inflation and the general downturn economic spiral we're in as a country due to the escalating dictatorial Communist actions of our unelected government officials you'll soon care when the money gets tight.
Typical candy a$* Millennial or Gen Z response blaming boomers for their failure cause they don't have the grit to prosper. Stop expecting things to be handed to you. The reason AI and automation is taking over is cause companies foreseen your lack of ability to work hard.
good luck generating revenue you little twit
T is the Golden Telco.
I got the boot at 62. I retired and life is good. I have a fat pension and a 3200 a month social security check. I might not know where the company is going, but then I don't really care.
F u OP and John Stankey!
Hey OP, not actually verifying what age group “boomers” are prior to posting proves the point by everyone who has commented so far.
Your unearned and undeserved sense of worth, along with your laziness to do the work necessary to be correct in your statement shows us all, that the future is doomed.
Funny, because all the product managers and developers are in this age range. Also, boomers are 60+ as of the new year. Many of them have left already.
That's today's working world. There's really nowhere to escape to that offers what AT&T once did.
Workers need to be nimble, continuously learning and willing to adopt to new work demands.
Unfortunately, many of the younger people are in for a ride awakening in life both in their careers and as the country heads towards Totalitarianism (which many younger people unwittingly support).
Last post is 100 percent the truth. If you are younger, you have absolutely no future here and no retirement. At least the people close to or over 30 years can retire with a pension. The younger people will all be gone within 5 years and starting over again.
I think its the opposite. If you're younger, you really need to think about your future here. When I get laid-off, I can just retire.
61 with net worth knocking on the door on $5M... Very blessed indeed. I think I'll hang in at least 1 more year. Job is pretty easy.
You need a hands on job that requires you to be where you live. Advanced software and offshoring will do more and more. They will always pay the VPs but your scope will be huge. You may even manage union folks.
"T is headed somewhere you can’t"
Unless you're in a C suite, or in India or the Philippines, @1aob+1qe1WZJF, that includes you; age isn't the determining factor (though it is in RTO, as most of those kicked off payroll were senior level folks making good scratch at one location)
I'm in early 50's, so I'm Gen X.
Boomers are ruining the culture.
If you are 45+ working for this company, you should really te think your future. T is headed somewhere you can’t
If you are less than 45, you have little to no idea how the network works at the physical level.
You don't know what it takes after you type on your keyboard what is needed, the resources, the time needed and the man power needed to create a physical connection that ends up with a paying customer.
That is dangerous, for you.
Good thing is that many jobs that don't require physical work on the network will be sent to India for dimes on the dollar, and the simpler jobs will be automated with AI, even if if AI is only 70% as good as a human. This is AT&T and that's good enough.
Looking a little grim for those under 45 of age trying to make a career with AT&T.
Life is good at the edge of MR75. I watch you fight and struggle for jobs that you know are going to India. If you don't physically touch the network, your job is going to take a ride to Satesh and friends. Biden didn't do it, Trump can't save you from it.
Might want to direct your disappointment toward Randell and Stankey.
What exactly do you think the younger generations are bringing to the table that the older crew isn't? Because everytime I go to the office, the younger crowd is just looking at spreadsheets and sitting in on meetings like everyone else. Perhaps you thought Elon Musk or Baby Einstein was going to pop out of the wood work. Lol...
ok zoomer
